Vestas Manufacturing A/S > Manufacturing & Supply Chain Quality > Nacelles Quality Assurance

Nacelle Quality Assurance is part of Global Vestas manufacturing & Supply chain Quality team, responsible for safe launch of new products in manufacturing factories. The team closely collaborates with R&D and Manufacturing in the planning and execution of quality assurance activities. We represent the voice of the customer for quality until handover to the serial production stage. Our accountability and responsibility is all based on the principles in the APQP4Wind concept - all transferred into what we call the "Manufacturing Baseline Package" in Vestas product development process.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Manufacturing Quality workstream lead in scoping, planning & co-ordinate execution of quality assurance activities & deliverables within the project
  • Continuously evaluate the quality of risk-related design, process, material, and tooling and ensure corrective actions are in place
  • Perform root cause analysis for critical failures and drill through systemic causes to avoid recurrence
  • Shop floor/Gemba validation on the inbound, manufacturing & outbound process and verify the production basis documentation
  • Support the project with quality requirements, and performance indicators with targets and report periodically; Manage deviations and escalate to the steering committee to ensure project quality is always on track
  • Share lessons learned and best practices for the different projects across deploying closed-loop quality framework.
  • Support functional excellence with continuous improvement and standardization initiatives in the team

Qualifications

  • You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering with a minimum of 6+ years' experience in the field of manufacturing & quality within wind turbine or similar heavy engineering industry
  • Working with structures in welding, machining and coating process.
  • Design for manufacturing/assembly (Dfx) and working in new product development.
  • Application of APQP principles and quality tools like FMEA, control plans, capability studies and MSA
  • Systematic problem-solving methodologies like Six sigma methodology, 8D, Shainin tools, DOE, etc.
  • Experience in system and process audit (like ISO 9001, VDA, etc) & performance management.
