Proposal Engineer
Overview
As a Proposals Engineer within our Sales Department, your primary responsibility is to produce high-quality bids that are compliant with Client requirements. This role requires you to work independently with a high degree of authority and structure while also motivating others to contribute their part promptly. You will work collaboratively with various functions across the organisation, including Supply Chain, Legal, Manufacture, Projects, Engineering, Management, and Sales, to deliver tailored bids that meet the technical, operational, and commercial needs of our customers. This position offers opportunities to develop technical and interpersonal skills and gain experience through various exciting projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit bids in accordance with customer requirements and specifications.
- Chair internal Bid/Strategy review meetings.
- Coordinate ITT requirements with other disciplines to ensure bids comply with customer specifications.
- Create and compile cost estimates for the scope of work, including flexible pipe costs, equipment costs, structures, pipe accessories, and testing and qualification requirements.
- Set deadlines and plan and organise workload to ensure all deadlines are achieved.
- Liaise with the centralised supply chain function for RFQs of flexible pipe accessories and any other specialised equipment.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary sales support team to define effective tender strategies.
- Respond to bid clarifications with assistance from relevant engineering disciplines.
- Compile commercial quote documents to support the bid.
- Ensure adherence to internal checking and approvals procedures.
- Attend and participate in customer bid clarification meetings.
- Respond with revised tenders or clarifications as requested by the Customer.
- Review customer POs/Contracts and chair hand-over meetings to the Project Delivery team.
- Contribute to the development of the quoting process and continuous improvement of working practices.
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism when representing the company.
- Ensure personal compliance with Corporate Compliance Rules and Export Regulations.
- Adhere to department and company policies, procedures, and processes, ensuring compliance at all times.
- Occasional travel as required (up to 10 days per year).
Who are you?
- Degree in Export/Global Business Engineering or equivalent.
- Expertise in project quoting for fabrication and assembly.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex tenders.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of Offshore Oil & Gas components.
- Excellent English skills.
