The Role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be a key technical leader within our data engineering team. Working closely with product, analytics and commercial teams, you will help shape our data architecture and drive the evolution of our data platform. Our stack is hosted in AWS Cloud and supports both batch and real-time data pipelines. You will take ownership of building scalable systems using Spark (Scala/Java), Lambda and Flink, and set the standard for engineering excellence.

You will also play a central role in mentoring peers, guiding architectural decisions and championing best practices across the team.

What You Will Be Doing

• Architect, develop and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines
• Influence and evolve our data infrastructure and platform strategy
• Ensure the quality, performance and reliability of our data products
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align data solutions with business needs
• Champion clean code, testing, observability and peer review practices
• Lead by example and support the growth of less experienced engineers

What We Are Looking For
To succeed in this role, you should bring at least 5 years of professional experience in data engineering, with 2 or more years in a senior-level role where you led technical decision-making or complex initiatives.

We value curiosity, humility and a passion for solving complex problems. While you may not tick every box, here is what we think will set someone up for success in this role:

• Solid experience building distributed data pipelines using Spark
• Strong programming skills in Scala or Java (Python is a plus)
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS
• Experience with data streaming technologies such as Flink and Lambda
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, versioning and orchestration tools
• A holistic mindset, understanding the wider impact of engineering choices
• Proven ability to mentor others, lead technical discussions and influence architecture

Bonus If You Have

• Experience with infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines
• A focus on developer experience, platform thinking or data quality frameworks
• Contributions to open-source or internal tech communities
