Performing specific tasks meant to secure a safe workplace for VIKING’s employees, by means of identifying hazards, evaluating risk and finding appropriate preventive actions. As I have also written my Master’s Thesis within the same department, the theoretical research work went hand in hand with the practical side of the job. The thesis addresses the analysis of health and safety incidents at VIKING and HSE performance enhancement

Besides that, I am also involved in other relevant tasks, such as:

Assisting with the integration of the Norsafe and VIKING QHSE management systems, following the Norwegian boatbuilder’s acquisition by VIKING.

- Presenting and addressing the findings of the FMEAs performed while in my previous position at VIKING, in order to enhance reliability and quality of the company’s products.

Assisting continuous improvement and optimization processes and projects across multiple departments within the VIKING business, but mostly in the R&D department. Supporting the organization in a wide range of areas, from Project Management to daily ad hoc tasks:

Monitoring, analyzing and presenting product and project related KPIs in the R&D department

Developing standardized tools & manuals to be used in R&D projects

Implementing 5S in production and storage areas, and setting up a system for auditing and monitoring performance

Performing FMEA on various VIKING products and systems, in order to detect possible threats to their operability and improvement opportunities

Taking part in testing of VIKING products, such as evacuation chutes, liferafts and survival suits

Besides all the above mentioned, applying knowledge already acquired, while enhancing the learning process in my post-graduate education.

During my internship at Johnson Controls' factory in Aarhus I have been dealing with tasks within energy optimization on site, environmental issues as well as tasks related to health and safety. The assignments that I have solved strengthened my skills in data collection and analysis and gave me a clear image of what working in a multinational manufacturing company is like.

Following the work done during my internship, Johnson Controls and I reached an agreement according to which I have been hired as a student worker in the EHS Department.
My duties included:

monitoring and troubleshooting the implementation of the different solutions delivered during the internship

reporting and analyzing EHS deviations and the subsequent corrective actions

managing, maintaining and updating the documentation and systems needed for the company's ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007 certification process

energy efficiency and resource optimization

assessing the environmental impact of the production process (Bachelor Thesis)

- various other new tasks specific to the daily activity in the EHS Department as well as in other departments.
