WASH/Shelter Engineer (Mykolaiv)

DCA is looking for an enthusiastic engineer to join its WASH/Shelter programme in Mykolaiv oblast. She/he will contribute to the efficient and effective WASH/Shelter implementation of the DCA Ukraine Office, with a responsibility of providing support to local partners, monitoring and liaison with local stakeholders and other departments and deputising for the WASH Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, design, implementation and monitoring/tracking of small-scale infrastructural construction projects
  • Prepare and monitor contractual engagements of consultant companies for large-scale/complex projects
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to local partners
  • Evaluate the technical status of projects and propose any amendment steps to achieve project objectives
  • Manage relations and communication with relevant authorities
  • Support the timely development of donor proposals
  • Support coordination of DCA/NCA’s water, sanitation and hygiene sector programme
  • Support coordination of DCA/NCA activities in WASH/Shelter with other actors and partners
  • Communicate with partners for progress monitoring, in support of the programmes MEAL team
  • Collecting and facilitating feedback and Lessons Learnt with local partners
  • Submit regular technical and organizational reports as required
  • Contribute to country office strategies, reviews, action and contingency plans
  • Support program accountability to partners, national government, benefiting communities and donors.

The experience we’re looking for includes:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience as a practising engineer.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, organizing, and supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, ability to communicate effectively on culturally sensitive issues to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to be proactive and work independently.
  • Ability to operate in a high stress and unpredictable environment.
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English and Ukranian is required

Work related travels are expected in this position.
