Opportunity

The Regional Facility Design Engineering Manager for LAM & IMEA, is a SME and leadership role reporting to the Global Head of Fulfilled by Maersk Engineering, independently applying extensive and diversified knowledge of MHE and automation design, and engineering design principles in a high paced growth focused company.

The Regional Facility Design Engineering Manager will recruit, and manage a team of Design Engineers, providing leadership, guidance and technical expertise to ensure the successful design, and delivery of high quality, cost effective MHE and automation solutions for our warehousing and fulfilment assets at Maersk.

They will work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring the team deliverables are met to input design, cost and program information into investment proposals, to create efficient and cost-effective design solutions, and to ensure on-time, and on-cost execution of MHE, storage and automation design solutions to enable maximum revenue returns for Maersk.

As a key member Maersk Engineering and Construction Leadership team, they will supporting the development and growth of the team, and be a key contributor to shaping the team strategic direction, maximizing the team value-add to Maersk in delivering efficient, quality driven assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and manage a team of Engineers spread across the LAM and IMEA regions who will own multiple projects simultaneously, from concept realization through design approval.
  • Provide strategic direction and over-sight to the team on development of designs for smooth approval and engineering processes; utilizing your engineering expertise to provide guidance and direction, solving complex technical challenges, and ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaboration with Global and Regional stakeholders to ensure timely Engineering resources allocated to all projects
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the highest standard of work is delivered consistently across all projects.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, making informed decisions to avoid potential issues and delays.
  • Stakeholder management - Key partner to Head of Construction PM for LAM & IMEA, and business partners in Finance, Product, Delivery, Investment and Procurement teams
  • Key role to play in development of new techniques and processes to drive standardization.
  • Responsibility to ensure that all projects are delivered to achieve scope requirements, within budget and best overall value, providing team direction to provide clear planning, oversight, and execution of projects across the organization.
  • Assess and communicate project status, drive escalations on potential risks and delays across multiple teams.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and look for opportunities to improve processes and manage projects more efficiently.
  • Support business planning activities based on project workload across the business.
  • Support development of the new Asset Management FbM Engineering team, with proactive approach to transformation towards digitization, standardization, automation and scalability

What are we looking for

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering (any discipline).
  • Team Leadership experience, managing and developing a remote regional team, including skills and experience within customer escalation and conflict resolution
  • Experience of ownership/management of engineering design projects
  • Experience in Design/Innovation Engineering, Manufacturing/Process/Industrial Engineering, or related MHE engineering sector within Logistics development, with a strong portfolio of successfully completed projects.
  • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, control systems, data collection, software applications, packaging technologies, robotics and/or high-speed manufacturing
  • Experience with process design and based on Lean Principles
  • Proficiency with system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and decision making
  • Strong understanding of industry standards, quality expectations, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong experience of resource planning and mitigation management, Cost budget management
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to clearly articulate vision into an executable plan. Technical (written and verbal) English communication skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft office tools including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Power BI, and experience using CAD\BIM related software, MS Project
  • Experience using task management tools including but not limited to; MS Teams, Smartsheet, Asana, or others.
