To further support the growth of NKT, an exciting new role as Category Manager of subcontracted goods and trading goods has been established, consolidating these activities in one key role. The position is within our Direct Materials team which consists of 9 highly engaged category managers. The team puts an emphasis on having an open, informal atmosphere where knowledge sharing, continuous development and genuine interest in creating real value adding sourcing solutions to the business is in focus.
Bring your expertise to support the growing demand for cables and other (semi) finished goods
As a Category Manager in Group Procurement you will be at the center of our efforts in providing meaningful strategic procurement solutions to the business, catering to our plants located throughout Europe. Effectively, you will be the partner to the business on strategic procurement matters within your category, having the full end-to-end responsibility.
While we think strategic procurement is always rewarding, it is particularly fun and exciting these days in NKT, as our demand for materials and goods is growing immensely. It is therefore providing plenty of challenges and opportunities for a curious procurement professional joining NKT.
Your primary responsibilities will be to:
- Consolidate and mature the category of subcontracted goods and trading goods
- Define and own all category management activities within your assigned categories
- Be the supply market expert and partner to the business
- Translate input and requirements from Sales/Tender function into sound and meaningful category and sourcing strategies and plans
- Coordinate and align with business lines the different subcontracting/trading strategies
- Negotiate contracts with external partners, securing best possible terms
- Continuously develop the supplier portfolio to match the increasing requirements, securing sufficient external capacity
- Own and manage supplier partnerships, driving performance and valuable outcomes
Group Procurement has global responsibility, and our skilled employees represent multiple nationalities, working out of both HQ in Broendby, Denmark and our plant locations throughout Europe. This role will be placed at our HQ in Broendby, Greater Copenhagen Area, Denmark. Some travel, primarily within Europe, is to be expected.
Category Management, curiosity, collaboration and ability to engage and deliver
To grow in this role, you thrive with opportunities and having a broad exposure to the organization at all levels. You are therefore expected to possess the needed curiosity, natural authority, and strategic category management skills to engage effectively with the business and suppliers – some being strategic to NKT.
Besides the above, you engage effectively with internal stakeholders across borders and cultures, understand business needs and translate these into sourcing solutions – and executing on these. Also, you will need to be able to navigate effectively across business lines in a growing international organization.
You have a positive and constructive mindset focusing on opportunities rather than obstacles and have well developed commercial and strategic skills.
Key desired skill set
- University degree within Supply Chain Management, Engineering or similar
- Minimum +5 years of proven experience within category management of direct materials/subcontracting in a larger international manufacturing company
- Experience negotiating complex supply/subcontracting agreements
- High level proficiency in English - both verbal and written
