About Us

Our Preclinical Research Group is a dedicated team of experts in radiochemistry, nuclear physics, biomedicine, and molecular biology. We specialize in developing next-generation radiopharmaceuticals for PET imaging and receptor-targeted precision radiotherapies, utilizing unconventional radionuclides to advance cancer treatment.

Our Mission
We are committed to transforming the treatment of aggressive cancers, including brain and breast cancers, through theranostic technologies and novel drug delivery systems. Our radioactive molecules are designed to target and irradiate cancer cells with cellular precision using Auger-electron-emitting radionuclides, thereby effectively eradicating tumors at the single-cell level.

The Position
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our Novo Nordisk Foundation-funded Synergy project, Image and Destroy: New Radionuclides for Cancer Theranostics. This two-year position offers a unique opportunity to work on novel technologies in collaboration with SDU’s Department of Physics, Chemistry, and Pharmacy (Prof. Christine McKenzie) and Dublin City University, Ireland (Prof. Andrew Kellett).

Research Focus

• Development of cancer-targeting peptides using unconventional theranostic isotope pairs (e.g., 117/119Sb, 55/58mCo).
• Application of these peptides in diagnostics and brain cancer therapy.

Key Responsibilities

• Production of novel radiometals using solid target-based methods.
• Radiochemical development of innovative radiopharmaceuticals for brain cancer treatment.

What We Offer

• State-of-the-Art Facilities: Advanced laboratories for radiochemistry and radiopharmaceutical development, two cyclotrons for radiometal production, cutting-edge imaging modalities (PET/CT, PET/MR, SPECT/CT), and preclinical imaging capabilities.
• Collaborative Environment: Work alongside leading scientists at SDU and Odense University Hospital (OUH), and engage with national and international partners.
• Professional Growth: Opportunities to advance your expertise in radiochemistry and radiopharmaceutical development.

Expectations of Qualifications

• A PhD in chemistry, pharmacy, or a related field.
• Strong experience in chemical synthesis.
• Preferably, a background in radiochemistry.
• Experience in radionuclide production and purification is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Why Join Us?

• Make a lasting impact in the fight against cancer.
• Work in a dynamic and supportive research environment.
• Collaborate with world-class experts and access state-of-the-art technologies.
