Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Data Governance Specialist to join our Data Governance Center of Excellence (CoE). In this critical role, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and evolving the company’s data repository while focusing on the proactive development of data architecture. You will collaborate closely with Data Stewards, business leaders, and IT stakeholders to assess feasibility, define data solutions, and ensure alignment with the organization’s strategic goals.
As a Senior Data Governance Specialist, you will bring a cross-functional, end-to-end perspective to our data ecosystem, acting as a bridge between business needs and technical capabilities. You will play an instrumental role in the deployment of a global data governance framework, tailored around specific use cases to maximize relevance and impact across the organization.
What you will do
- Data Repository Management: Create and manage a comprehensive repository of data assets, ensuring accuracy, alignment with business needs and cross-functional oversight
- Data Standards, Governance, and Stewardship Support: Create and maintain global data standard and architecture principles, and templates for consistent use across the organization. Collaborate with data stewards in applying these standards to their area of responsibility and provide training to ensure effective implementation of data.
- Feasibility of data solutions: Collaborate with Data Stewards, business units, and IT teams to assess the feasibility of data solutions and define appropriate strategies for data management and governance.
- Data Architecture Alignment Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that data architecture supports organizational needs and fosters a strong data-driven culture.
- Governance Tools and Platform Optimization: Define requirements for governance tools and collaborate with IT to implement and optimize them for organizational use.
What you bring
Experience
- Relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, or a related field; Alternatively, you could be a former librarian that has shifted focus to data management and governance.
- 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related fields, with a strong understanding of data architecture concepts, including data modeling, data flow design, and integration patterns and data quality best practices.
- Hands-on experience in creating a data repository, meta data management and implementation of reporting systems using Microsoft data platforms and Power Bi.
- Proven experience working with Data Stewards, business units, and IT teams to assess and implement data solutions.
- Familiarity with data management tools, technologies, and platforms.
