DTU Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Wireless Networks – DTU Electro
Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU)
DTU Electro invites applicants for a tenure track assistant professor position in wireless networking. Your main research and teaching area will be within classical Internet and IoT, with a focus on use cases for defense, eHealth/telemedicine and autonomous transport.
At DTU Electro we are expanding our research and teaching activities within wireless networking and its interaction with the wired high-capacity core/transport network, and we are inviting applicants for a new position in this field, with a specific focus on reliability, availability, privacy and security.
Responsibilities and qualifications
We are looking for an Assistant Professor with a PhD in communication networks and some years of research experience from a postdoc position or similar. The applicant must have documented experience in network design and validation, with a focus on critical applications (both human and machine type). General knowledge of the physical layer is expected, but the main research will focus on the protocol layers above. General knowledge is also expected on the role and interaction of different domains of a global communication network such as the optical transport network.
The research of the new assistant professor will be extending and complementing our current research in classical Internet and IoT, with a focus on use cases for defense, public safety, eHealth/telemedicine, autonomous transport (networks for trains, cars and aircraft) and use of advanced tools such as in network programming (P4), function virtualization and similar.
The research will to a large extent focus on how control and management functions are used to provide stability and availability/security and exploit/assign the capacity of resources in the most efficient way (impact of bandwidth size and location in the spectrum).
You will become part of the Network Technology group conducting both fundamental and applied research, with strong international collaboration in the field of communication networking. Most of the research is carried out in collaboration with international recognised universities and companies and is primarily based on external research grants.
The research group is as well strongly engaged in teaching at BSc, MSc and PhD level and it is expected that you will be an integrated part of these teaching activities with responsibility for maintaining and modifying existing courses and establishing new courses within your field of research.
As tenure track assistant professor you will under guidance of the current senior staff be able to build or strengthen your research profile within one or more of the following topics:
- Wireless communication protocols (LPWAN etc)
- Link models and antenna architectures (MIMO concept, beamforming, gain)
- Network security and availability
- Network planning, simulation and dimensioning
- Application mapping towards network performance parameters (bitrate, latency, loss)
- Network function prototyping and validation (both hardware and software) – proof of concept
DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both to be able to teach BSc. students.
As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
