The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy at SDU invites applications for a scientific assistant position at University of Southern Denmark (SDU) to develop and build ground station and radiocommunication infrastructure for space- and near-space assets.
The role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of mission-driven space research, technology and education in a highly motivated team.
Starting date: 15 May or soon as possible hereafter.
Duration: 1 year + 4 month full-time position with the intention to extend upon available funding.
About the Role
As successful candidate, you will play a crucial role in designing and building ground station and radiocommunication infrastructure, including X-band and S-band, for both satellite and stratospheric balloon missions as part of SDU Galaxy – University of southern Denmarks hub for space science and technology.
You will be working with both research and student teams developing and launching space missions for which you will be leading work on the communications infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
a) Lead the design and construction of ground stations, including sourcing of equipment, in collaboration with researchers and mission teams at SDU and partner institutions.
b) Support science and student teams and train them to operate ground stations
c) Take part in relevant educational activities including lectures, summer schools and camps
d) Take part in funding applications to help expand the field at University of Southern Denmark.

Qualifications & Experience
To apply, you should have:
• A relevant science or engineering degree
• Experience with ground station development and/or RF.
• Good organizational skills, particularly in teams
• Good communication and collaboration skills in teams that allow you to interact with both researchers and students from science and engineering.
We will highly value documented expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• Space or near-space mission or mission team management
• Funding application experience
