PhD Position in AI, Learning, and Simulation-based Medical Education

Region Hovedstaden

Copenhagen Academy for Medical Education and Simulation (CAMES), Rigshospitalet, seeks a dedicated PhD candidate for a fully funded 3-year position, commencing on September 1, 2025, and concluding on August 30, 2028.

Project Overview
The PhD project will advance theoretical and empirical knowledge on the intersection of learning, artificial intelligence (AI), and simulation-based medical education. Specifically, the research will involve designing and executing experiments in the CAMES simulation center to examine the impact of various AI-driven feedback modalities on clinical learning outcomes. The work of the student will have a specific focus on the educational elements of an interdisciplinary team involving clinician and AI engineers.

The clinical domain focus is obstetric ultrasound, an area in which our team has extensive prior research experience. This interdisciplinary project is conducted in close collaboration with the Danish Technical University (DTU), the University of Copenhagen (KU), and McMaster University in Canada.

This represents a tremendous opportunity to build skills and expertise that will position the student as an emerging leader in the international medical and health professions education community.
