Are you interested to use your medical expertise to help people around the world – without leaving your home? SOS International is looking for Finnish-speaking doctors to join us as Medical Advisors, where you’ll combine clinical knowledge with meaningful and flexible work.
SOS International is the Nordic leading emergency center that assists Scandinavian travelers.
As a Medical Advisor, you'll play a key role in our international network and you will be part of a culture where we work purposefully to help people.
You'll provide professional guidance on patient care and medical transport across borders, ensuring high-quality treatment in line with international standards and SOS guidelines.
About the role
This is a part-time consultancy position with full flexibility. You decide how much you want to contribute – from a few cases per month to several each week – and you work from wherever you prefer. It’s a great opportunity alongside your clinical work.
Your key responsibilities:
- Advise our 24/7 Emergency Medical Centre and collaborate with local doctors, patients, and families around the world
- Evaluate medical reports and ensure appropriate treatment is provided
- Plan and assess medical transport, especially by air (training in aviation medicine is provided)
- Communicate complex medical evaluations clearly to non-medical staff
- Ensure patients receive the right care – and take action, including recommending evacuation, if needed
- Support cost control through sound medical judgment
- Share and gain medical insights through peer collaboration and regular professional meetings with your colleagues.
Who you are:
- A licensed Specialist Doctor in Scandinavia, preferably in Orthopaedic Surgery, General Medicine, Internal Medicine, Anaesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, or Psychiatry
- Fluent in Finnish and English, both spoken and written – Swedish is a strong plus but not a requirement
- Clinically active, with direct patient contact and treatment responsibility
- A strong communicator who is proactive, reliable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Skilled at collaborating across teams and cultures
- Comfortable with MS Office and written documentation
- Bonus: Proficiency in one or more of the following languages is an advantage: Spanish, French, Greek, Italian, Turkish, Serbian/Croatian
What we offer:
- A flexible, meaningful role with a leading international company
- Work-from-anywhere setup – ideal as a side role to your current clinical job
- A supportive and collaborative culture with a focus on professionalism and care
- A chance to make a real difference for people in vulnerable situations around the world
