Industrial Environment Specialist

COWI A/S

Industrial Environment Specialist (56510)
Application deadline: 31 May 2024 - Denmark - Location: Lyngby - Water & Environment

Do you want to contribute to make Denmark more sustainable? Do you have experience working with environmental compliance and permits of industrial facilities, industrial emissions, environmental impact assessment, PtX, OML calculations or a related field? Then, this could be the next adventure in your career.
Turn challenges into sustainable solutions
To create synergy and a stronger focus on the environmental area in COWI, we have one large and strong competence centre for environmental services in our department called “Environment and Resources”. This department covers 4 sections: "Acoustics and Noise", "HSE Management", "Resource and Waste Management" and "Environment".

We work to move Denmark in the direction of green transition, sustainability, climate adaptation and innovative urban development. Therefore, we are looking for a colleague to help us implement sustainability, green transition, and circular economy in practice. We are about 170 colleagues working alongside our customers on some of Denmark’s most significant projects within environmental conditions. And we are thrilled to have contributed to some of Denmark's most interesting projects in this area like HØST PtX Esbjerg - a ground-breaking new Power-to-X plant.

We are now looking for an experienced Specialist or Project Manager, to join us on our journey to further the green transition of Denmark.

Your key activities will be:

  • Environmental assessments and environmental approvals/permits in the industrial area
  • Preparation of environmental applications and baseline reports
  • OML calculations (dispersion and deposition of air emissions)
  • Sewer connection permits (tilslutningstilladelser)
  • Discharge and percolation (nedsivning) of industrial wastewater
  • BAT reference documents
  • Contact with authorities in connection with industry and energy plants, Power to X (PtX), Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) plants etc.

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future
The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you - whether they are colleagues, partners or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways, but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.

We imagine that you have at least a few years of experience working with one or more of the areas mentioned above and you thrive in a role where you have direct contact with your clients.

On top of that, you will have:

  • A good understanding of business and good stakeholder management
  • Knowledge of Danish and EU legislation in the environmental field
  • The drive to support our clients towards a greener future by identifying and recommending improvements within environmental aspects and processes.
  • The ability to work structured and focused.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with one or more of the fields above.
  • Fluent in Danish – both written and spoken
  • English on business level

A place to work and so much more
At COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world. We do it by applying our knowledge and curiosity – and sometimes even our courage – to create the solutions the world needs today to enable a better tomorrow. That is why we say no to fossil-based projects and aspire to have 100 per cent of our revenue come from activities that move our customers towards sustainability.

We value differences and development and cultivate an environment of belonging and having fun. Because that is what brings out the best in you, at work and at home.

With offices primarily located in Scandinavia, the UK, North America and India, we are currently 7,300 people who bring their expertise in engineering, architecture, energy and environment into play.
