The position
You will be an in vivo pharmacologist contributing to innovation and drug discovery through cross-functional teams focused on heart failure. The role entails ideation, target discovery, design and planning of in vivo pharmacology studies and other project activities related to identification and progression of new drug targets. The role will require scientific leadership within heart failure and participation in global project teams. As part of a matrix organisation, you will join a team of highly skilled professionals and you will work in close collaboration with experts in other areas and with CROs to provide projects with critical data and support. Mentoring and supervision of technical/junior staff is an integral part of the job.

Your responsibilities includes - and are not limited to:

  • Leading and driving in vivo pharmacology strategy in the heart failure space, and providing input to therapy area strategy
  • Designing, planning and executing in vivo studies (run internally or at CROs), data analysis, interpreting of data, and recommendations for next steps to project teams and senior leadership Target ideation and potentially project management
  • Interacting with external academic and industry research collaborators and assessing external opportunities
  • Attending scientific conferences and publishing in scientific journals

The job level will depend on the experience and qualifications of the suitable candidate. Furthermore, the role requires approximately 0-5% of international travel.

Qualifications
As an expert in heart failure, you have extensive experience in drug discovery preferably in an industrial setting. You have hands on experience with preclinical in vivo models of heart failure with focus on translational relevance.

To be successful in this position you have:

  • A PhD in life sciences with at least 5 years industry experience
  • Knowledge of drug discovery principles and strong scientific network
  • A proven track record of publications in scientific journals
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English

As a person, you are a dedicated, open-minded, and innovative team player with good collaboration and problem-solving skills, who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Critical thinking, ingenuity, excellent communication skills, integrity, and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment will be critical toward advancing programs in the cardiometabolic pipeline.

About the department
The department is focused on in vivo pharmacology in the cardio-renal space and consists of 20 employees (10 scientists and 10 laboratory technicians). Måløv is the largest research center of Novo Nordisk, a site for innovation, idea generation, and preclinical testing of medicine candidates across our therapy areas.
