Senior iOS Engineer

Lun Energy ApS

Lun Copenhagen Full-time

Salary Competitive

About Lun
Our carbon emissions are still increasing, and the evidence for dramatic climate change is all around. We want to do our part in solving it.

In Europe, 12% of our carbon emissions come from heating our homes - just as much as using our cars. Getting those emissions to zero will be a gargantuan task: retrofitting 90 million buildings across many countries is a hard problem.

Lun’s mission is to decarbonise homes faster, by building an operating system for tradespeople in the European energy renovation industry. Our first task is to make heat pump installations an absolute no-brainer for plumbers and electricians.

We've secured a robust funding of 11M€ from high-caliber investors, including the likes of Lowercarbon, Norrsken VC, Partech, Foundamental, and MCJ Collective, in order to very rapidly accelerate building retrofits across Europe.

About the role
As a Senior iOS Engineer at Lun, you’ll take part in driving Europe's transition away from fossil heating. You’ll build critical tooling, enabling more installers to install heat pumps faster, better and more reliably, by supporting them with accurate home scans, inspections, visualizations and more, using Apple’s newest SDKs. You’ll build a core component in a passionate and caring team, working cross-functionally to build cool things that cool the planet.

This position can be based out of Lun’s HQ office in Copenhagen, or as a remote role in a location close enough to allow for frequent travel by train (e.g. Malmö, Stockholm, Hamburg or Berlin).

What you will do
We're building the ultimate installer platform that makes it easy to estimate, configure and model a heat pump deployment in consumers’ homes, while reducing friction that keeps our installers from loving being a green transition hero.

  • Define and own an (almost) new app. We have just started building and testing the new app, and you'll get full responsibility for the codebase and its maintainability. We’ll make sure you get ample technical sparring on the architecture and complex decisions regarding the app (including from your manager, who’s a very experienced iOS engineer).
  • Build what matters. Spend your working hours designing and developing end-to-end solutions that make it seamless to transition to a sustainable home and economy. You'll build a client that converts the physical world into the digital as a part of a wider platform that improves the lives of installers.
  • Build cutting-edge, 3D stuff. RoomPlan and ARKit more broadly are at the core of our value proposition to installers. You’ll be building cutting-edge technology that is critical to the business.
  • Create an amazing developer experience. Optimise the developer experience for yourself and your team members, allowing us to move the needle efficiently.
  • Help build an awesome technical culture. Establish and promote an honest learning culture, built on trust and a growth mindset.
  • Help others shine. Constructively suggest technical approaches, improve solutions and perform code-reviews with peers, so we can carve the best path forward.

Requirements
Who you are
Must-haves:

  • You have 4+ years of experience working as a software engineer, and 2+ years experience working on iOS with an app live in production.
  • You are comfortable with modern native iOS development (Swift, SwiftUI, async/await), and you’re also familiar with UIKit. You can write safe, maintainable code with or without unit tests. You have a deep understanding of the iOS ecosystem, including its guidelines and best practices.
  • You are pragmatic and familiar with various patterns and app architectures. You are able to discuss potential approaches and choose the most suitable one based on the context.
  • You take pride in your craft, and are passionate about staying up to date on new technologies and practices. You strive for balance between the tried-and-tested, and the new-and-shiny.
  • You are passionate about contributing meaningfully, concretely and positively to fighting climate change. Not all the work we’ll be doing is glorious - we’re here to solve a climate problem, and solving it is our first priority.
  • You can work independently, but also thrive in collaboration and teamwork. You have strong but loosely held opinions on what we are building and why.
  • You are good at balancing the now and the future. What matters to you is the real life value our stakeholders get from what you are building. You sense when it's time to pay tech debt and when it can be incurred in the interest of speed.
  • You are a sharer and teacher. We want you to bring your experience and how you like to work into the mix. Similarly, you want to learn from other people's experiences.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity. Early-stage startup life is never a straight line. You don't mind the ambiguity, and can see when structure is required and when it's in the way.

Great-to-haves:

  • You’ve worked as a web developer in a previous life. Versatility is always a plus in startups!
  • You are product minded and have great intuition and appreciation towards UX/UI.

Even if you feel like you don't meet all the "must-have" requirements for this role, we encourage you to apply anyways. We know that the confidence gap and imposter syndrome can get in the way of companies meeting incredible candidates, and we don't want them to get in the way of meeting you.
