We are in the process of building a professional cross-border tax function. As part of this, we need a Senior Tax Specialist to strengthen our team in Denmark in a role that supports Better Energy’s business.

The position will be an integrated part of the Tax Team in Copenhagen.

As our new colleague, you will join our growing Tax team and report to the Vice President of the Team. We are part of a growing Finance department currently consisting of 40+ colleagues who handle a wide range of financial aspects in the FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Accounting and Controlling & Reporting teams.

The Tax team supports the business model of Better Energy by rendering tax advisory services to the business and maintaining all operational tasks related to taxes, VAT, and duties.

We work across teams and in close cooperation with various company functions, as well as internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all financial aspects are in place for Better Energy’s continued growth.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
The Senior Tax Specialist will be a primary driver towards our aim of automating the tax reporting in Better Energy. Further, responsibilities for this role cover surveillance and reporting of new tax legislation and tax risk management for Danish entities, and ad hoc tax services to the business such as restructurings, tax and VAT analysis of ongoing and new activities.

Primary areas of responsibility:

  • Annual group tax reporting under IFRS,
  • Automating tax calculations and development of new reporting packages including setting up reporting procedures across markets,
  • Oversee tax risks including development in uncertain tax positions for Danish entities,
  • Surveillance and reporting of new Danish tax and VAT legislation etc. with an impact on Better Energy,
  • Prepare and file tax returns for Danish companies in cooperation with the existing Tax team,
  • Advisory services to the business.

So, who are we looking for?

The successful candidate must be a numbers and tax enthusiast who can see the advantage of employing technology to apply scalability in a growth scenario. For this position, you must also be detail-oriented, have good business judgement and analytical skills.

  • Previous relevant experience 8+ years with:
    • corporate income taxes – Danish and international,
    • tax accounting and reporting under IFRS,
    • VAT and/or from either an inhouse tax function or from a tax consultancy firm
  • Alternatively, you have a financial background working as an auditor or financial controller with a knowledge about taxes,
  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Auditing (cand.merc.aud.), in Business Administration and Commercial Law (cand.merc.jur.) or similar,
  • Experience with or willingness to learn to work with Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power Automate, Power BI, Power Pivot etc.),
  • Experience working in an international business overseeing activities across countries,
  • Excellent level of oral and written English.
