Crane and Lifting Engineer

Join us in this role where you’ll be a part of the Low Voltage and Mechanical team and collaborate internally to solve complex and basic engineering problems faced by the portfolio of assets under operations in Americas. This role will primarily focus on offshore WTGs. Your team’s task will be to provide practical and efficient solutions to these problems using the tools available and work with our OEMs to ensure we’re meeting our contractual obligations. You’ll collaborate with our service providers and customers, develop solutions, and implement best practices.

Welcome to Operations Engineering
You’ll be part of Low Voltage and Mechanical Team where you, together with your colleagues, will identify, maintain, and improve lifting excellence for Americas Operations and support other regions when needed. You’ll primarily be supporting the Northeast Program (NEP) and be responsible for crane and lifting AP. Our team consists of seven colleagues incl. your role, with the team split between the Port Jefferson, LI and Austin, TX offices, depending on the offshore/onshore focus. As a team, we are technically responsible for mechanical and electrical componenets of assets. We work in a collaborative group and support each other towards driving mutual success.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • creating and reviewing lifting plans and recording site lifting information
  • handling SME for cranes and lifting apparatus, incl. operation, and all material handling equipment, such as cranes, davits, hoists, etc.
  • maintaining regulatory and/or statutory certifications to carry out necessary inspections
  • conducting recovery procedures for all cranes onsite
  • reviewing lifting operations with the technicians and vessel crew, and developing, delivering, and maintaining crane and hoisting familiarization training
  • doing identify rigging tasks.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering, construction management, or related field, or have the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • can pass and maintain required medical(s) examinations and trainings (i.e., GWO, Sea Survival, HUET, GUS, Swire, etc.) to get onto the offshore assets
  • have participated in crane training and certification courses that cover various types of cranes, their crane mechanics, rigging, safety regulations, etc.
  • have good project management and computer skills
  • are a high-level communicator and have excellent problem-solving skills
  • are able to prioritize your own workload and organize time and tasks efficiently and proactively.
