Material Department in Oslo is looking to strengthen the team with new Senior Material Engineers. You will play an important part in the material selection for both structures and piping systems, including equipment such as pressure vessels and valves.

About the position
As a Senior Materials Engineer, you’ll define protective coating systems, manage piping system erosion, oversee welding and NDE requirements, and participate in key meetings. Your expertise will drive our material engineering projects, and some travelling to suppliers must be expected.

Responsibilities and tasks include

• Evaluate need for surface preparation and surface protection both for marine based and onshore environment
• Responsible for material follow up and quality control of suppliers regarding welding, heat treatment, M650 qualification, surface protection etc.
• Review and approve suppliers' fabrication procedure and reports. Typical CPS, CPT, WPS and PQR and other fabrication procedures within NDE, casting, forging and heat treatment etc.
• Responsible for discipline project reports, e.g. Material selection report and Surface preparation and protective coating
• Provide support to other engineering disciplines within the responsibility of the Material discipline
• Technical clarifications and handling of deviations towards Aibel's Customers

Qualifications

• M.Sc/B.Sc within material technology, metallurgy or chemistry
• Minimum 2 years' relevant work experience within oil and gas industry
• Knowledge of Norsok M-standards
• Experienced with on-site inspections within surface protection, welding, NDE, heat treatment and general fabrication related to metallurgy
• Communicates well in English – both orally and in writing
