We are looking for a Senior Scientist to join our Process Analytical Technology (PAT) department in Oral Product Development at Novo Nordisk.

The position
The department is currently seeking Scientist candidates for teams 2, and 3, with experience in the field of Process Analytical Technology. We are also interested in candidates from other fields who have an interest in PAT.

As a Senior Scientist in the PAT department, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead the advancement of spectroscopic technologies for off-line, at-line, and in-line implementation, fostering strong collaboration with QC and Production teams across Emerging Technology globally.
  • Take responsibility for transitioning analytical techniques, particularly spectroscopic analysis, from development to routine QC analysis, process control applications, and Real-Time Release Testing (RTRT).
  • Engage with spectroscopic methods for analyzing solids and products utilized in the production process of solid dosage units, spanning from powder to tablets.
  • Tailor your responsibilities based on your interests and team dynamics, encompassing the development, enhancement, and validation of NIR analysis and PAT applications. This includes crafting study protocols, hands-on experimentation, data assessment, feedback incorporation, and troubleshooting alongside production and reporting teams.
  • Drive the implementation of finalized methods and processes into QC or Production, potentially facilitating their transfer to other production sites worldwide.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role as a Scientist in the PAT department, we envision that you:

  • A background in an M.Sc. or PhD in Pharmacy, chemistry, food science, or related field coupled with experience from a GMP environment.
  • Possessing practical science experience in the pharmaceutical sector and readiness for GMP compliance.
  • Competencies with chemometrics, modeling, and interpretation of spectroscopy data, preferably with Matlab, PLS Toolbox, Python, R or similar.
  • Experience with analytical method development, incl. experimental design, data evaluation, and protocol and report preparation.
  • Knowledge of analytical instruments, incl. troubleshooting, user requirements, and general application.
  • Hands-on experience in the implementation and transfer of analytical applications to commercial production.

About the department
The position is part of the PAT department in the Oral Product Development area. This area is part of Novo Nordisk’s oral solid dosage units, with an ambition to develop world-class tablet products for patients living with chronic diseases, incl. obesity, diabetes, and any future oral solid dosage treatment for other diseases.

The department currently consists of four teams that work together to develop and implement new PAT applications for the oral drug product pipeline.
Each team has a specific responsibility:

  • Team 1 focuses on early development, Proof of Concept, and scouting for new PAT applications.
  • Team 2 is responsible for developing PAT methods for specific drug products.
  • Team 3 validates and implements the PAT methods for commercial application.
  • Team 4 manages the overall portfolio of PAT projects in Oral Product Development and consists of project managers responsible for PAT projects for each drug product.
