Senior Expert Plastic Parts / Kunststoffe (m/f/d)
You will play a key role in overseeing all aspects of plastic part development and application within our organisation and with our external development partners and suppliers. Your expertise in polymer science and engineering physics for plastics will be instrumental in driving innovation, optimising processes and ensuring the highest quality standards for our plastic-based components and products.

Your Tasks:

  • Direct and oversee the development activities related to the physics and processability of the parts, as well as set up relevant testing.
  • Evaluate and optimize the application and production processes to ensure product performance, quality, and efficiency both internally and with partners & suppliers.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in plastics and engineering within the field and provide strategic guidance to support product innovation and differentiation.
  • Collaborate with various departments and colleagues at all levels, including polymer development, product design, manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain.
  • Establish and implement quality assurance protocols and standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations and customer requirements.
  • Lead projects from conception to completion, including defining project goals, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate findings, recommendations, and project updates to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and performance enhancement through the application of new technologies, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Lead the exploration of the most optimal value chain for VELUX and ensure cross-departmental alignment.

Your Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, a Master's degree combined with extensive relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) within the plastics industry, especially focusing on development and application.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic components and materials, characterization techniques, polymer processing, and polymer structure-property relationships.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in managing and developing teams.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulations.
  • Good understanding of business processes and correlations.
  • An outgoing personality with a proactive approach.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to identify and address technical challenges.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
