The position
As our new Chemicals Specialist you will join a highly skilled specialist team responsible for ensuring chemicals compliance and reducing environmental impact from both our products and production sites, in line with our environmental ambitions and strategy as we strive for zero environmental impact. As well as translating existing and upcoming requirements to relevant internal stakeholders and driving compliance, our ideal candidate will act as subject matter expert in the chemicals space and ensure up to date processes and procedures.
The role is anchored in the Environmental Compliance and Expansions Support department, part of Strategy & Sustainability within Product Supply, Quality and IT (PSQIT). In this role, together with your colleagues, you will support with compliance related activities regarding chemicals as part of existing production but also towards our expansion efforts as Novo Nordisk continues to become bigger and broader.
Desired candidate profile:
- We are looking for an experienced and skilled chemicals professional, with experience of working in pharma. Someone with a thorough understanding of chemicals regulations (from an EU, US and global perspective) and their potential impact on our processes and products. The ideal candidate will be able to provide internal mapping and guidance on the implications of the regulation of specific substances for our processes, supply chains and product development.
- Furthermore, the ideal candidate should possess in-depth technical knowledge and experience working with chemical substances including substance groups such as PFAS, demonstrating an understanding of their chemical properties, environmental impact, and potential health hazards.
- You should also have a proven track record in advocating for matters related to chemical substances, engaging with regulatory bodies and industry associations, and effectively communicating the implications of substance bans.
Qualifications
We imagine that a successful candidate thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment and has:
- A Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience working with ensuring chemical compliance in a regulated industry (pharmaceutical, medical devices, chemicals or similar)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.
- Previous experience in project management.

You have a positive mind-set and a can-do approach to overcome challenges to ensure chemical compliance is not compromised. With an outgoing personality and strong communication skills, you excel at building and maintaining strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across different functions internally and to some degree externally to drive change and reduce environmental impact.
The department
You will be part of the growing Environmental Compliance and Expansions Support department, currently made up of 20 specialists responsible for driving proactive compliance to protect Novo Nordisk’s global license to operate and to ensure compliant, sustainable Novo Nordisk products and facilities for the future.
