How would it sound if there was a job opportunity to help secure the Control Center Operations that manage the constellation of Galileo satellites on behalf of the European Commission?
For our customer in the Space industry located in the Munich area, we are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer with wide technical knowledge on the IT infrastructure with focus on security.
The Security Engineering Team is responsible for the overall management of the vulnerabilities of the system for different segments (GCS, GMS, …) as well as the remote sites.
This activity requires scanning the threat landscape for vulnerabilities which are applicable to our systems and acting promptly to patch the affected components or otherwise mitigate the threats.
These tasks require not only a strong technical and engineering background but also an understanding of the ever-evolving capabilities of our potential attackers which are enhanced by technological advancements in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
The position will include tasks such as:
- Review and analysis of the regular procedures and applications in information security that are used in day-to-day business (access protection, encryption, configuration control, vulnerability analysis, malware detection, database activities), after prior analysis of the project requirements in the cyber security area
- Identification and classification of system anomalies in the local security environment, creation of a solution concept
- Identification of potential threats to the information and communication systems, creation of a response plan, review of implementation and development of an efficient operational solution that is ready for signature, followed by escalation in the event of violations
- Processing of the security risk register through the ongoing identification of new cyber security risks and dangers
- Preparation support of training documents and regular training of project staff with IT security
- Regular reporting and rapid escalation to the Cyber Security Manager System Evolution and Security Manager in the event of a specific risk situation in the Galileo IT security area, e.g. critical vulnerabilities
- Regular review and documentation of the system against the Customer-defined security requirements, in the event of deviations, creation of appropriate correction concepts and implementation
- Definition of cyber security processes and workflows in the engineering area
- Definition and implemantation of new projects and technical solutions in the cyber security area and further development of the tools used in the area of analysis and report creation
Required Skills:
- Completed bachelor's degree in computer science, cyber security or equivalent
- Have at least 2 years of work experience in IT Systems Security;
- Comfortable using Linux OS (Debian, Ubuntu) in a Terminal;
- Good coding skills in Python.
- Knowledge in scripting with Python
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox;
- Knowledge of at least one scripting language such as PowerShell or Bash;
- Knowledge of the Common Vulnerability Scoring System standard (CVSS);
- Knowledge of Cryptography
- Have a thorough understanding of good systems engineering processes;
- Possess good inter-personal and communication skills;
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
Additional skills - Desirable
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker;
- Knowledge of python web frameworks such as Django;
- Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle;
- Previous experience with Software Testing (static, dynamic, fuzzing)
- Previous experience working in a Scrum Team
- Experience with DefectDojo (DevSecOps platform)
- Willingness to undergo security audits
- Confidentiality and reliability skills
- Good knowledge of the German language
This is a full-time position, located at the customer site in the Greater Munich area, Germany.
Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory, as English is the working language.
The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills together with the ability to effectively cooperate within the team.
