Senior Project Manager - Freight Forwarding Projects (MY)

Job Summary
Lead the Projects Team in Malaysia, reporting to the Head of Projects in Singapore. Manage day-to-day operations, execute projects, and drive business growth. Ensure timely and commercial performance, develop and maintain strong client relationships, and identify new business opportunities.

Your Role

• Lead and mentor the Projects Team in Malaysia, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project execution
• Manage and execute the day-to-day enquiry/shipments of the department and its commercial & operational performance within the Energy Ports & Projects business unit.
• Responsible for executing, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting the progress of shipment/pro-ject to the clients and working in close cooperation with various BWS offices / teams / agents and support functions such as Chartering Desks, Technical & Engineering Dept, HSSEQ and others
• Effective & timely communication to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrates awareness of escalation procedures and taking ownership to resolve issues
• Create new business opportunities through operational sales and/or business development via existing and own network, both domestically and internationally.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing clients with best in town service as per Blue Water Shipping’s motto.
• Monitoring the service quality and performance of sub-contractors/suppliers
• Attending of loading/discharging operations in the region and globally when/if required.
• Identify potential risks associated with transporting over dimension cargo and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
• Prepare accurate and timely reports for the head of department.
• Conduct post-project evaluations to assess the success of a transport or to gather lessons learned and apply insights to future projects.
• Assist the Malaysia office where necessary which may sometimes include non-energy, ports& project related businesses.

Your Background

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, project management) or equivalent practical experience
• Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager and or Team Lead in Freight Forwarding
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
• Familiarity with specialized equipment, such as multi-axle trailers and self-propelled modular transporters, as well as a working knowledge of customs procedures for oversized cargo, are often preferred qualifications.
• Possess a solid understanding of transportation regulations, particularly those related to oversize and heavy haul shipments
• Strong team lead experience with good communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure
