Systems Engineer (software) for the Combat & Self Protection team in Søborg

Terma A/S

  • Are you enthusiastic about understanding the situation for a customer and their needs, and merging this with your domain knowledge to build technical solutions?
  • Would you like to be responsible for the isolated solution and validation of the implementation in close cooperation with the team?
  • And do you want to have an impact on software which makes the world a safer place, while securing people through advanced technology?

Perhaps you are already a passionate Systems Engineer, a technical Business Analyst, or a software developer, and wanting to expand your role – then this position could give you the challenges you need.

The job description
As a systems engineer in the Combat & Self Protection team in MDS (Multi Domain Systems) in Søborg, you will take technical ownership in our projects when understanding customer needs and implementing solutions together with the team.

You will have a wide range of interfaces and close cooperation with other specialized colleagues, and while you work you will gain increasing responsibility of the overall product functionality and performance.

As we also participate in test activities necessary to ensure system and project delivery, including tests onboard military vessels (primarily in Denmark), you will also learn what to expect in real life (simulated) defense scenarios.

We hope you to challenge the team on how we work – you will be responsible for the technical project management when taking part in ensuring project delivery, while being an important sparring partner for colleagues in and outside your team.

We work in scrum teams within our working family in the R&D MDS organization of 150+ highly knowledgeable and supporting technical experts, in an area of great focus and importance in Terma.

What is our company like?
We are an international company standing for world class expertise, delivering complex and high-tech products. We value our colleagues and our meaningful contributions to securing people through advanced technology.

Our company culture is autonomous and engaging, and we acknowledge the importance of flexibility in a great working environment. On our various locations, we offer various social activities to bring all of our colleagues together.

In all: Terma is on an inspiring journey, where we grow in abilities, complexities, and size – and we hope you would like to be a part of this journey with professional and personal growth as one of the gratifying key elements.

How to succeed in this position?
We expect (or hope) you to have:

  • Solid experience with activities in software teams, with an understanding of the lifecycle from start to end, and how to use resources the best way.
  • Knowledge of agile development methods with an understanding of the values created by Continuous Integration and -Delivery (CI/CD).
  • Above all, a genuine appetite for being in a team, where humor, a close cooperation and sharing of expertise is the key.

Our domain is specialized and vast, and we need all the experts we can get – we are therefore active about your professional development and will support you in building knowledge and technical ownership in the organization.

Mini-FAQ

  • Q: “I have heard that R&D in Terma have a fast-track program for software developers who wants to grow, called ‘JEDI’ – but what could be applicable to systems engineers?”
  • A: “Great question! When we after summer reboot the JEDI team for a v2.0, we will also create a new specialized track for some Systems Engineers”

What do we hope to find in you?
You have a relevant education (e. g. engineering, software, electronics, physics etc.), plus some experience as a systems engineer, or from having worked with several aspects of software product development.

We expect you to be full of passion, one who actively follows through on your tasks, and is not easily overwhelmed by a complex and highly specialized environment – instead, please show us that you can devise better ways.

You want to support the team, have fun with your work, and take pride in communicating actively and acting proactively towards your teammates and stakeholders. You are structured and well-articulated in writing and speaking, as a minimum in English, preferable also in Danish.
