Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic team in our Singapore office as a Junior Naval architect. The successful candidate is after a training period responsible for planning and designing sea fastening, grillage and lifting devices for transportation of Heavy cargo and modules, ensuring that it safe, efficient and compliant with the regulatory standards.
Your Role
- Design lifting plans and other installation drawings in 2D/3D
- Come up with Drawings & plan for transportation (Land transport plan, stowage plan, sea fastening plan, swept path, etc)
- Design and prepare detailed drawings for grillage, lifting devices etc.
- Improve existing designs to enhance performance and operational effectiveness
- Ensure all designs comply with the regulatory standards
- Develop, maintain and implement technical standards to mitigate risk exposure and improve operational excellence
- Execute transport related calculation (e.g cargo secure calculations, deck strength check, rigging calculation, mooring analysis etc)
- Perform risk assessments
- Working globally within an international team
Your Background
- Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or any related field
- Previous experience in shipyard engineering is a plus
- First knowledge in drafting and have experience in 2D CAD drawing and 3D structure modelling in Inventor
- Able to design and calculate simple structure like stoppers, load spreading grillage
- Good knowledge in AutoCAD, MS Excel & MS Word
- First knowledge of ISO, IMO, DNV-Noble Denton guidelines for marine operation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills in English
- Willingness to travel to job site if required
A plus to have experience / knowledge on the following:
- Understands ships stability and able to perform stability calculation
- Able to prepare ballast plan for Roll on/off operation
- Able to verify local deck strength of vessel / barge for heavy cargo
- Understands vessel motion and able to perform seafastening calculation
- Understands vessel mooring plan and able to do mooring analysis
- Able to perform rigging calculation as per DNV guidelines
- Knowledge on the following systems like Inventor, Nastran, Optimoor, ANSYS, LR Seasafe, Hydrostar
