Head of Digital Trading

Join us in this role where you’ll lead the Digital Trading team who are responsible for the development of digital trading initiatives for optimising our algorithms and strategies. You’ll analyse market data, ensure compliance, and enhance trading efficiency and profit in collaboration with traders, risk managers, Innovation, IT, and Compliance. To succeed in the role, you’ll implement strategies and drive the digital innovation to support the development of the skilled team of five quants and data scientists.

You’ll be part of Market Operations where you, together with your colleagues, will shape a visionary digital trading strategy and drive the development and implementation of advanced digital trading based on data and executed by algorithmic trading systems, ensuring we remain at the forefront of the power market. Together, you’ll support the balancing of our 10 GW renewable portfolio in the day ahead and intraday market in Europe. As a team, we treasure diverse opinions and are passionate about the wellbeing of each other. We have an ambitious goal to become the most effective and profitable digital trading department in the energy market supporting the rest of the trading organisation.

You’ll play an important role in:

• developing and implementing the digital trading strategy, aligning Algo trading with the business objectives of balancing the portfolio to create and enhance profitability
• leading and managing a high-performing team of digital trading professionals
• staying abreast of the industry trends and technological advancements to maintain a competitive edge
• collaborating with key stakeholders across the organisation to drive digital trading initiatives
• ensuring all digital trading activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies and implementing risk management strategies to mitigate trading risks.

To succeed in the role, you:

• hold a master’s degree in finance, economics, computer science, engineering, or a related field
• have proven experience in a senior commercial role within the energy sector with a focus on digital trading
• have strong leadership skills with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams
• have in-depth understanding of digital trading platforms, analytics, and emerging technologies
• are excellent in analytical and strategic thinking and have great problem-solving skills
• have strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
