As our new Network Engineer, you will be part of the Digital Engineering arm of Project Delivery & Engineering where we stand at the forefront of working towards a fossil-free future. We are dedicated to executing major global infrastructure projects, navigating a dynamic and challenging environment to guarantee safety, promptness, quality, and budget compliance.

Within our Digital Engineering division, we specialise in delivering and integrating digital solutions aimed at facilitating renewable energy production and ensuring dependable operations. As the primary provider of digital solutions within the Business Unit Offshore Wind, we oversee the whole value chain, from bid acquisition to asset construction and operation. Our focus lies on Operational Technology (OT) and IT, harnessing control and analytic modelling synergies to optimise engineering design through comprehensive data integration.

As one of the key functions in Vattenfall’s wind business, Digital Technology Engineering is responsible for supporting wind projects, operational sites and other business units in managing SCADA equipment, communication and respective infrastructure.

Your profile
Your role / what will you do?
As a Network Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the secure and cost-effective operation of the network Infrastructure, guaranteeing continuous data availability via the data center throughout the lifespan of our wind farms.

Working closely with your colleagues, you will focus on the operations of both onshore and offshore wind portfolios. You will collaborate extensively with team members during the project design and delivery phases. Your work will involve network systems, specifically the Vattenfall network for substation control systems, automation systems on substations, auxiliary systems, and turbine control systems.

Your responsibility will also include:

  • Support the operational fleet of wind farms by handling technical network communication tasks.
  • Pre-define scope and lead subcontractors on defined assignments supporting the O&M of the network equipment.
  • Ensure configuration and network equipment is up to date and that the integration of data to the centralized data centers are functional.
  • Contribute to an increased cybersecurity level and ensure the wind farms are in a safe. condition meeting Vattenfall and other regulative requirements.
  • Daily operational tasks, with monitoring and optimization of our running network solutions.
  • Ensure documentation is being developed and kept up to date.
  • Able to participate with the team in a 24/7 on-call duty roster.
  • Travel in Northern Europe is expected.
  • Capable of working offshore or remote facilities via boat/helicopter is preferential.

Your profile / who are you?

You possess a degree in Engineering or a related field and have at least 3 years of experience in network engineering, preferably within the energy sector. Additionally, you have excellent communication skills and can effectively interact with representatives from various professional groups, external business partners, and colleagues.

In addition you need to have experience in the following areas:

  • Security network solutions Cisco based.
  • Certified in CCNP routing and switching or an equal level.
  • Familiar with supporting highly-available networks.
  • Familiar with switching and routing protocols.
  • As we operate in an international environment, it is essential that you speak and write English fluently.

  • Act and work in a, sometime chaotic environment.
  • Have a systematic and focused approach to your daily tasks.

  • See design, documentation as a natural and integrated part of the work.
  • Flexible approach to travel.
