Our clients breakthrough technology transforms carbon emissions from industrial sources into clean chemicals which can be used in multiple industries. Thus, it is not simply an expensive carbon storage technology, but actually both an efficient and economically viable solution.

This is achieved by using gas fermentation to turn CO2 into chemicals such as acetid acid, an important industrial chemical.

Their goal is to reduce annual industrial emissions by 1 gigaton and need a Senior Process Engineer with particular knowledge in downstream processing to achieve this. Part of your responsibility will e to further develop their gas fermentation processes as well as helping to deploy their first pilot plant.

Alongside you there is a team of about 7 engineers but continuously growing. So you will work together to scale their processes from lab experiments to larger scale operations. And as a Senior Engineer you will really be part of leading this work.

To summarize the responsibilities

• Develop scalable, efficient processes for converting CO2 into green chemicals, focusing on both upstream and downstream operations.
• Perform comprehensive techno-economic analyses to determine the feasibility and impact of new process developments.
• Lead the scale-up of fermentation technologies from lab to commercial scale, targeting the construction of our pioneering facility this year.

Qualifications

• A degree in process engineering, chemical engineering, biotechnology, or a related field (MSc), with hands-on experience in developing and optimizing biological processes.
• Proven experience in process engineering, including conceptualizing, designing, and managing the construction of biotechnological equipment at commercial scales.
• Extensive knowledge in bioprocessing and a thorough understanding of gas/liquid mass transfers.
• Experience with gas fermentation (upstream) or liquid-liquid extractions (downstream) is highly advantageous.
• Creative and unconventional thinker, capable of pioneering new methods and approaches.
• Excellent at managing chaotic situations, transforming them into streamlined and efficient workflows.
• Exceptionally ambitious and determined, with the drive to achieve the seemingly impossible.
• Over 5 years of relevant process engineering experience.
