Job description
For our customer in the Space industry located in the Munich area, we are looking for a IT Software Engineer with wide technical knowledge on software engineering to help the flight and the ground segment engineering activities.

In this role you will be involved in activities as reviewing, evaluating, modifying, updating, restructuring and generally improving of existing software tools and workflows in line with specific software engineering best practices, and to identify existing or future needs for further development, supporting In-House Scripting.

Responsibilities
Your tasks will typically include but are not limited to:

• Address outstanding OS Nav KPITool snag list
• Implement TBD OS Nav KPITool KPIs and Metrics
• Create Cookiecutter Project Template from OS Nav KPITool
• Implement MOR functionality for SLM Reporting Tool
• Evaluate AI-Pipeline technical needs
• Support the review and overhaul of the GfR coding repositories.
• System performance monitoring; investigation of HW and system SW problems and taking the relevant corrective actions.

Qualifications & Competencies
The ideal candidate has an academic degree in IT, Computer Science or equivalent with knowledge and experience in following areas:

• Proficiency in Python (Numpy, Polars, Pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch), C, VBA.
• Proficiency in reading/writing technical English documentation.
• Proven ability to lead the refactoring of complex software packages.
• Strong debugging skills to identify/resolve bugs and coding inefficiencies.
• Tolerance for prolonged methodical restructuring of bespoke frameworks.
• Demonstrable experience in creating unit/system tests and managing CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab).
• Demonstrable experience with web-frontend design and development (Dash, Streamlit, Gradio).
• Demonstrable experience in web-scraping (selenium/playwright/robobrowser) and API design/ingestion (FastAPI).
• Ability to explain coding choices/paths to product owners and non-experts.
• Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work independently.
• Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory, as English is the working language.
• The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills together with the ability to effectively cooperate within the team.

In addition, some of the following skills shall be considered as an advantage:

• Experience in aerospace sector software development projects.
• Experience in setting up software development environments.
• Experience in automatically generating technical documentation (Sphinx).
• Applicable knowledge of designing and building ML models for data analysis and anomaly detection in time-series data.
• Knowledge of Rust, PyO3, maturin.
• Knowledge of the key ML/AL technologies and processes (Training, Fine-tuning, RAG, Inference Servers, Vector Databases).
• Knowledge of agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity and vulnerability best practices.
• Familiarity with Galileo SW Standards (GSWS).
