In vitro Toxicology Scientist/Specialist- Department of Exploratory Toxicology

H. Lundbeck A/S

In vitro Toxicology Scientist/Specialist– Department of Exploratory Toxicology

As a new colleague in the Department of Exploratory Toxicology, you will join a team of experts who provide toxicological support to all drug research projects at Lundbeck, from the earliest inception of innovative targets to drug candidate selection. Our main task is to evaluate the mechanisms and risks of toxicity for new drug candidates, using a combination of in-house in vitro and in vivo methods, as well as in silico tools when appropriate, and conducting studies at contract research laboratories together with external collaborators. We collaborate closely with research project teams, where we contribute with our toxicological knowledge and advice, to ensure the best possible safety of new medicines for people with brain diseases.

Your new role – why is this a great opportunity?
As an in vitro toxicology specialist, you will be responsible for designing, developing and optimising predictive in vitro cell assays for screening for toxicity/organ-specific toxicity of new compounds, together with colleagues. You have experience with high content imaging, and you have a good understanding of data analysis. It might benefit your application if you are familiar with coding and novel machine learning approaches that could improve predictive validity and risk assessment. Last, but not least, you will have a responsibility in advising research project teams as a toxicology representative in collaboration with colleagues in the department.

We offer
A very exciting and dynamic research environment with experienced colleagues. We are dedicated in our work and take pride in delivering high quality predictive results and safety assessments that support research projects in the best possible way. The working atmosphere is informal and positive, offering good opportunities for continuous learning, collaboration, and personal development.

The position is based in Valby, Denmark.

What you bring to the team
Our preferred candidate has the following personal and professional qualifications:

  • A solid in vitro biological background or related field of expertise, at the level of Ph.D. or equivalent, is essential. Ideally you have hands-on experience in in vitro or molecular biology/toxicology and non-clinical safety research.
  • You possess creative and strategic skills and are motivated by solving complex scientific challenges in relation to understanding in vitro findings and translating these to the behaviour of complex biological systems in an environment where prerequisites and timelines change rapidly.
  • You thrive in a collaborative team setting with shared goals, responsibilities, and multi-disciplinary project collaboration.
  • Documented experience with development of high content screening methods, assay systems- or computational toxicological approaches would be considered as a beneficial asset.
  • You have advanced communication skills, both formally and informally, and you are fluent in spoken and written English.

The position level will be adjusted based on assessment of the applicants’ competencies and experience.

Our promise to you
Lundbeck offers an inspiring workplace, passionate colleagues and a culture characterized as collaborative – a must to successfully bring our treatments through research and development all the way to commercialization and the people who need them. We offer a mix of exciting tasks and numerous development opportunities that are balanced with initiatives focused on your well-being.
