Financial Controller

Red Cross is an exciting and complex organization with both national and international aid work as well as commercial activities. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Controller with 4-6 years of experience in accounting and financial controlling. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, providing insights through financial analysis, and driving process improvements within our finance function. This role requires a proactive individual with strong communication skills who can effectively collaborate across various departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform month-end closing tasks, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Perform and oversee the reconciliation of key accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
• Analyse the trial balance, identifying deviations and variances, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
• Assist with the preparation and coordination of external audits, including the compilation of financial data and documentation.
• Assist with the consolidation of financial statements across multiple entities, ensuring consistency and compliance with accounting policies.
• Continuously evaluate and propose actions to improve internal control processes in order to ensure compliance and reduce financial risks.
• Work closely with other finance sections to ensure accurate financial reporting and process alignment.
• Conduct financial risk assessments, identify potential issues, and propose mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Experience: 4-6 years of experience in accounting and financial controlling roles.
• Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Experience with financial consolidation and audit processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP Systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Proficiency in both English and Danish (spoken and written) is required.

International Department in the Danish Red Cross supports vulnerable people in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, in close cooperation with Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in more than 30 countries, and have an annual turnover of more than 750 million Danish kroner annually. Salary and employment conditions will comply with Danish Red Cross’s collective bargain agreement with HK and AC depending on your experience and qualifications. The position is a full-time position of 37 working hours per week inclusive lunch break.
