If so, you could very well be the one we are looking for to drive projects within Global Category- and Stakeholder Management and lead the global category of steel across VIKING global sites.
About the position
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to optimize costs, reduce risk, secure sustainability and ensure strong collaboration between global sourcing and various functions (Manufacturing, Global sales and Engineering) on strategic projects.
You will be joining the Global Sourcing team, consulting 13 colleagues, located in Denmark, Norway and Thailand, and refer to the Global Sourcing Director at the head office in Esbjerg.

Global Sourcing is overall responsible for all sourcing activities within VIKING, including price negotiations and contracts, supplier development, supplier relationship management, category strategy development and participation in cross functional projects.
As a Global Category Manager you will overall be a professional and trustworthy partner to the VIKING organization. Additionally, develop and implement internal cross organizational sourcing processes in cooperation with internal stakeholders.
Examples of job tasks in the position, could be;
- Lead global category, starting point will be steel across VIKING global sites
- Practical adoption and use of the Global Category Management cross-functional process to deliver sourcing strategies
- Develop cost models and develop and executing savings pipeline
- Maintain a working knowledge of world-class supply chain processes
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and partners, to ensure effective strategy development and execution
- Lead and participate in global projects and special tasks related to strategic sourcing
With approximately 50 global travel days per year, this role offers a dynamic and international work environment. Does this sound like a role you or someone you know might be interested in?

Necessary skill set
To succeed in this role, you should have experience in procurement and proficiency in category management. Additionally, a strong theoretical background in procurement, engineering, finance, or a related field is essential.
This role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of procurement and sourcing.
Stakeholder management and interpersonal skills are in your DNA, and you excel at building business relationships both internally and externally. Further, a positive and results-oriented attitude is crucial.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Capable of working on cross-functional projects and experienced in negotiations
- Able to communicate effectively with a variety of business partners in an international environment
- Open-minded with an end-to-end value chain mindset
Strong communication skills in both English and Danish are required, and you should be able to negotiate and communicate with business partners internationally.
