The School of Culture and Society, Department of Culture, Cognition, and Computation invites applications for a teaching assistant professorship in Humanities Computing. The position is affiliated with the department, and involves teaching courses on programming, statistics, and use of artificial intelligence across the Faculty of Arts.

The teaching assistant professorship is a time-limited position dedicated to full-time teaching, including professional development. The appointment begins on the 1st of January, 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter, and ends after a period of three years.

We are seeking an innovative and dedicated candidate who can teach programming, statistics, and use of artificial intelligence at university level.

Employment as a teaching assistant professor requires a Master’s degree in computer science, cognitive science, linguistics (with a focus on computational content) or similar academic qualifications. Applicants are also expected to document:

  • Fluency in English
  • Relevant experience of teaching programming, statistics, and use of artificial intelligence at all educational and employment levels, with a focus on developing and delivering course elements for beginning level programmers
  • Relevant experience teaching in groups, or in teaching modules in the context of courses or programs
  • Strong oral and written communicative skills
  • Experience in teaching in English

The applicant must submit a teaching portfolio including a list of courses and course modules taught, representative or sample course outlines, and representative student evaluations.

The Department for Culture, Cognition, and Communication
The department consists of a number of research centers focused on interdisciplinary research on cognition and culture, and on research infrastructure for high performance computing in the humanities. The position will require teaching within course elements in a broad range of education programs supported by the centers activities, including for example cognitive science, linguistics, and interdisciplinary courses related to computational humanities. The position will also require delivery of competence development course work for staff across Arts, in topics related to programming, statistics, and the use of AI in Arts research areas.
