Under the supervision of the National Protection Manager (MHPSS/GBV), the Senior Protection Officer will work closely with partners and JCP Protection team in the field to ensure the effective implementation of protection programs, particularly in emergencies and crisis contexts.
The Senior Protection Officer will be the liaison with Protection Partner Organizations to ensure quality of the partners’ selection, programming, and reporting. Also, the Senior Protection Officer will be engaged in scouting, identifying and assessing new potential partners.
Strong English skills are required, along with proficiency in report writing and implementing Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) activities.
The Senior Protection Officer will deputize the management of the day-to-day support of JCP's protection activities in Ukraine, including procurement, organizing training, and other events according to the implementation plan but not limited to recommendations and contributions to improved programming and ensuring that the protection policies and procedures are followed and implemented consistently.
Main responsibilities:
Primary:
- Supporting and coordinating with Protection implementing partners
- Oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring of GBV and MHPSS programs in collaboration with field partners.
- Ensure that all partner protection activities are integrated into broader humanitarian response efforts and adhere to international protection standards.
Secondary:
- Support Protection Officers in the implementation of psychosocial support activities and gender-based violence programs in the designated locations of the project.
- Assist with logistical and procurement set up of multi-day trainings and events
- Assist to build relations and increasing visibility of JCP among donors, partners, protection cluster, INGOs and other key stakeholders.
- Support in submitting timely (partner) project reports (monthly/ weekly) including quantitative and qualitative data to the upper management.
- Provide support to partner staff and field teams, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to implement protection activities effectively.
- Support the overall planning and implementation of Protection activities, closely monitoring, evaluating, and reporting their development and flagging potential issues on time.
- Support in collaborating with JCP's MEAL team, ensuring that all data collected from the program is analysed and meaningfully utilized.
- Able to assist in various activities as needed by the Protection Officers, Protection Manager and Protection Adviser.
- Be prepared to travel to different partner locations in Ukraine, with frequency and security considerations as required.
Work related travels are expected in this position.
