Business Development Director - Maternity Cover

3XN Copenhagen is seeking a maternity cover for our Director of Business Development who can join us from December 2024.
The Business Development Director oversees the Copenhagen BD team, working in close collaboration with the 3XN global leadership team. The Business Development Director’s main area of responsibility is to steer the acquisition of new projects in key markets by carrying out the global BD strategy including annual goals for target projects, clients, and collaborators per region.
Additional responsibilities include proactively supporting the office partners to help secure new work in support of the larger BD strategy, strengthening 3XN’s presence and position in key markets. Focus markets include Denmark and the Nordics, Europe, UK, US, Canada, and Australasia.
Primary Responsibilities
• Proactively initiate, build, and maintain relationships with new and existing clients and consultants in key markets to secure new work
• Organize and lead meetings and office/project tours with clients (often together with partners/associates) and coordinate follow-ups with BD team
• Find and evaluate potential leads for public and private sector projects via proactive outreach, meetings, and events with the BD team and leadership
• Lead the Copenhagen BD department and provide leadership, guidance and instruction to the team; conduct annual evaluations
• Oversee the BD team’s production and submission of PQs and RFPs from initial project vetting to teaming, reviews, and final delivery
• Prepare and maintain annual BD budget with CFO
• Maintain annual BD trips/events calendar and organize/join trips to meet clients in key markets; designate partner/associate participation; balance with BD budget
• Represent 3XN at networking events and conferences
• Oversee preparation of fee/scope estimates and MOUs with the BD team; assist in contract reviews and negotiations with the leadership
Secondary Responsibilities
• Maintain overview of the global BD pipeline and oversee tracking of opportunities and outreach in CRM system (Hubspot) with the BD team; present biweekly status updates/pipeline reports to the global leadership
• Coordinate with Head of PR and PR team to align global BD and PR efforts; conduct Monday BD/PR team meetings
• Guide and empower the partners and BD team in carrying out the BD strategy per market; encourage/designate participation in proactive outreach/client meetings
• Oversee the BD team in the creation and maintenance of marketing material including company brochures, booklets, project pages, CVs, etc.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this maternity cover position will be an experienced professional who can work closely with the 3XN global leadership to guide the studio’s business development initiatives, with the following qualifications:
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Denmark on a full-time basis
• Master’s degree required, degree in architecture, business, or related field a plus
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience working as a BD Director or Manager for an architectural or AEC practice
• Proactive, motivated, and confident, with the ability to take ownership, organize complex tasks, and manage multiple deadline-driven efforts with a team
• Excellent leadership, communication, and networking skills
• Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, CRM systems
