Our Data Department is part of the Novo Nordisk Foundation's Impact Area. The department aims to deliver high-quality data and advanced data-based solutions that align with the Foundation’s strategy and key objectives. The goal is to create impact across the entire value chain of the Foundation. The responsibility of the Impact Area is to evaluate the impact of the Foundation’s initiatives and monitor our progress toward strategic targets.
The Impact Area comprises 15 highly skilled and passionate colleagues, including seven members in the Data Department. The Job
As a Data Engineer, you'll develop solutions and construct data pipelines to assess Novo Nordisk Foundation’s grant impacts across various sectors. Collaborating with the Data Department and Impact Area, you'll handle data processing and analysis. You'll also lead projects creating Business Intelligence (BI) solutions for key stakeholders.
Your tasks will include:
- Setting up systems and processes for cleaning data using tools of your choice to ensure high data quality and integrity through audits and validation processes.
- Extracting data via advanced queries from multiple databases and ensuring seamless system-to-system integration.
- Designing and implementing dimensional models to support data warehousing and reporting needs.
- Creating and maintaining semantic models for the BI solutions.
- Build and maintain data pipelines, primarily using Databricks, PySpark, SQL, and Python to deliver clean, well-structured data for consumption by data scientists and analysts, ensuring readiness for machine learning and statistical analysis, while leveraging relevant Azure tools.
- Staying updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in data engineering and analytics.
Professional and Personal Qualifications
Our ideal candidate holds an M.Sc. and/or Ph.D. in (Social) Data Science or has equivalent experience with documented training. We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience in data management or data engineering. You should have extensive knowledge of Python, SQL, and Azure tools like Databricks and Microsoft Fabric, be familiar with Jupyter Notebook or R Studio, and possess:
- Broad experience with data engineering and data management
- Strong project management skills and experience from implementing BI solution in a larger organization.
- Expert knowledge in analysing, modelling, and interpreting complex data sets
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
