Automation & Controls Engineer
AgainBio (Luabio Aps, Secondcircle Aps)
At Again, we are tackling one of the planet’s most pressing issues—CO2 emissions—by transforming them into a solution. Our innovative approach involves fermenting industrial waste gases into carbon-negative chemicals, thereby turning harmful emissions into valuable, emission-free green chemicals. With each tonne of product we create, we remove over 2 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere. Backed by over $90 million in funding from top venture capital investors and the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme, we’re poised for rapid growth and global impact. If you think we’re doomed - think Again
What you’ll do
We are looking for an Automation & Controls Engineer to drive the implementation of our bioCCU technology at our first-of-a-kind (FOAK) commercial plant. You will lead the development and integration of a Distributed Control System (DCS) that connects the bioreactors and various process sub-units, including gas compression, product recovery, and resource recycling systems. Your work will be critical to the seamless operation and scale-up of our CO2 conversion technology
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement DCS architecture and control specifications, ensuring process security, data management, and system robustness.
- Collaborate with process engineering and operations teams to capture operational philosophy and develop control specifications, including cause and effect matrices (CEMs).
- During Procurement, engage with vendors to ensure equipment compatibility with the overall control philosophy, managing control system integration across all units.
- Act as the primary internal resource for controls and automation, overseeing factory acceptance tests (FATs), site acceptance tests (SATs), commissioning, and startup activities (including alarm setting and management).
- Assist with procedure development, especially for (but not limited to) potential safety instrumented systems (SIS).
- Help lead IT architecture development for the industrial site, ensuring data security and facilitating remote monitoring.
Job requirements
About you
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure, control systems, and process automation development. Specifically on one or more of the major DCS platforms.
- Strong technical skills in automation and ability to develop tools and processes for automation engineering.
- Expertise in industrial control systems, risk management, process improvement, and project management.
- Ability to take immediate ownership of ongoing control system development, with strong vendor management and oversight skills.
- You are an unconventional and out-of-the-box thinker (which is essential, as we are doing things that haven’t been done before)
- Available for frequent travel to the US in the coming year (or if you live in Houston, that works too)
What we promise you?
- You get to work with a group of passionate scientists, working on challenging and meaningful projects
- This will be the journey of a lifetime – we are serious about our mission to reduce over 1 gigaton of CO₂ and you can play a pivotal role in making that happen
- We live by our company values: Relentless Grit, Unreasonably Ambitious, Unconventional Thinking, Critical Urgency
- An inclusive, empowering and engaging work environment
- We understand that relocating can be a hassle, so if you don't live in Denmark, we will help out to give you a smooth transition
