We are looking for a talented Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Copenhagen or Berlin. As a Financial Accountant at Monta, you will support the Head of Reporting & Controlling to maintain an accurate and informative set of Financial Reporting tools and contribute to a continuously improving financial control environment and purchase to payables process across our European region. We plan to double down on our successful software-only strategy by strengthening our investments in all markets, and expanding our products to all new sectors ready to set off on an electrified future. Once that’s done, the sky’s the limit 🚀

Here are some things you’ll be working on:

• General responsibility for the Control and Reporting for our main trading entity in Denmark - particularly on spend and key balance sheet accounts versus our forecasting process and ensuring a high level of control over our Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT & Tax information for submission (through Avalara tool).
• Lead on Monthly, Quarterly and Annual period closing.
• Perform an audit process of financial transactions and documents - preparing for being key contact for the external year end audit process.
• Take ownership of specific areas of our Financial Reconciliation processes, ensuring the monthly reporting cycle is backed up by a tight control of the Balance Sheet and help our FP&A team avoid unexpected surprises.
• Ensure our Sales invoices maintain good compliance standards, supporting our Receivables team with queries from our customers from various different countries. Helping to support team members with Jira tickets from Support on these topics.
• Support the payables process of our Danish company, ensuring our approval and controls processes improve as we scale.

Your key outcomes will be:
It’s not just what you do – how your work impacts our products and processes is also important to us. Besides the tasks you complete, we’ll also be measuring the tangible outcomes and improvements you set in motion – which will (hopefully) increase your professional growth and satisfaction with us at the same time.

To be successful in this role, we imagine you to have the following experience:

• A demonstrable technical accounting background - this might be a Masters degree in a relevant subject or a recognized qualification, such as ACCA or equivalent.
• Experience of providing accounting control through reconciliations and compliance procedures in a fast moving Finance environment.
• Ability to take ownership of assigned areas of work through to completion, whilst working well in a team of varying levels of seniority in a fun but driven environment.
• Ability to problem solve and make suggestions on process improvements is key.
• Knowledge of the Scandinavian Region (esp. Denmark & Sweden) accounting and invoicing requirements - language support not necessary but could be an advantage.
• Experience of Payroll management and/or accounting an advantage.
• Excellent communications in English a must; further European languages an advantage.
