Senior Trader – Bunker Holding, EMEA

This Role is available across any of the EMEA Offices.
To strengthen our team in Bunker Holdings internal pricing desk, we are now looking for a trader, with experience from either derivatives or/and bunker sourcing.

The role requires that you are physically located in one of the offices in EMEA or are willing to relocate to an office which is.

About the role
You are expected to have a commercial mindset, driven by sales and possess some experience working with forward prices, have an interest in and understanding of hedging and hedging tools. Together with the rest of the team, our new Senior Trader, will contribute to shaping the future of the pricing desk and realizing our business potential.

The pricing desk has a vital role in the group’s strategy which gives this position an exciting international reach, offering you the opportunity for both personal and professional development. Our goal is in close corporation with our regional purchase desks to support and position the sales traders to meet and facilitate an increasing demand for fixed prices and price risk management solutions for traditional bunker fuels and new green fuels businesses.

Play a key role in creating strong collaboration
It is important for us to create a strong collaboration between the different units of our value chain (reselling, physical, sourcing, paper trading etc.) and in that you will be a key factor. Supporting the sales traders in the use of derivatives in B2B trading and ensuring persistent data and KPI follow-up are some of the tasks you will be involved in.

Your role
You will be the groups marked maker for forward fixed prices on bunker and new fuels, finding and generating opportunities for both our purchasing desks and sales traders by bridging the gap between derivatives and physical bunkers.

Your other tasks include:

• Managing the groups exposure
• Increasing the number of structured products sold
• Educate the sales traders with regards to derivatives and structured products
• Develop marketing material and conduct seminars that help drive the process forward

In an ideal world you have the following knowledge, skills and experience

• Experience from bunker sourcing
• Risk management skills, understanding bunker price risk
• Physical and paper understanding

To excel in this role, you must demonstrate a proven track record of hands-on problem-solving, particularly in fast-paced, multicultural environments where adaptability and quick thinking are crucial. A strong business development mindset is essential, as you will be expected to identify and capitalize on new opportunities to drive growth and success for the organization.

Your ability to build and nurture productive relationships with key stakeholders will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth execution of projects and long-term collaborations. This requires a balance of professionalism, empathy, and strategic thinking. You should also be able to approach challenges with creative, out-of-the-box thinking, bringing innovative solutions to complex problems.

Strong negotiation skills will allow you to navigate complex discussions and achieve favorable outcomes, while your communication and interpersonal abilities will enable you to effectively influence others, both internally and externally. Fluency in English, at a professional level, both written and spoken, is a must, as you'll be engaging with a diverse range of clients and colleagues across the globe.

Finally, flexibility and a willingness to travel are important in this role, as you may be required to visit various locations to meet with stakeholders, attend conferences, or oversee key projects.
