Software Engineer Denmark

Makeen Energy A/S

Would you like to help shape the future standard for industrial control software? And are you ready for new professional and personal challenges in an exciting international environment? Our Research & Development department is looking for a Software Engineer, starting 1 November 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter, to join our international team of highly motivated colleagues, all working on the development of advanced industrial software solutions.

Join an innovative global team
As our new Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and building innovative applications and systems that meet the customer’s needs. Working closely with the embedded system and team, your primary goal is to develop and maintain high-quality software solutions that improve the functionality of our connected devices.

In this position, you are the link between Research & Development (R&D) and the Customer Support (CS) department, ensuring that technical solutions align with customer requirements and needs, while also contributing to data architecture, cloud integration, and embedded system management.

We develop our own products and systems that facilitate remote control and intelligent management. We use connected devices with applications, commonly called "embedded systems". You will be required to work with systems that communicate via serial port or Bluetooth.

Your main responsibilities
As Software Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Stage gate plan for R&D: you will follow all the gates from ideas to launching the software in the market, including all the gates for developing, testing, and documentation for your colleagues.
  • Participate with CS to identify the customer need and translate it into R&D projects.
  • Together with R&D and CS, you will develop visualisation pages and interfaces that allow customers to better interpret data and plan preventive maintenance.
  • Data architecture: you will have great influence in defining the organisation of data in the database and participate in the software architecture with the R&D team.
  • Working closely with the Cloud and IoT team for data storage and ensuring the necessary security in data storage.

Your profile
We expect you to:

  • Have strong technical expertise and experience with developing C++, Scripting Language (eg. PYTHON, BASH), and version control tools (eg. GIT version management)
  • Be able to prioritise tasks based on project needs and deadlines
  • Have basic knowledge of web development (a plus, not a must)
  • Be experienced in writing clear and comprehensive project requirement specifications
  • Be familiar with microcontrollers, Linux, and Docker
  • Be fluent in English, both written and verbal.

As a person, you:

  • Work effectively within a team environment and value open communication.
  • Approach tasks methodically with attention to detail.
  • Welcome new ideas and adjust to changing circumstances.
  • Focus on delivering meaningful results with every task.
  • Are able to work in small, iterative processes with regular team feedback, rather than spending months coding without evaluation.
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism in all actions.

We do not expect all applicants to fulfill 100% of the points listed above, and you may even have some useful skills that we haven’t even thought of – feel free to let us know! We encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply.

Future responsibilities
Over the next 2-3 years, you will take on responsibility for managing the web interface between CS and R&D, serving as a key coordinator between these teams. You will also oversee the management and storage of data, ensuring efficient and secure handling of information. We also foresee that you have integrated well in the matrix organisation, working effectively within the R&D team to contribute to innovation and collaboration.

What's in it for you?
As a new MAKEENer, we welcome you into an informal working environment with room for people of all kinds and backgrounds. You will join your colleagues in the R&D team, and they are looking forward to sharing their knowledge with you and help you hit the ground running.

In your first weeks here, you will participate in a detailed onboarding and introduction process to MAKEEN Energy. We encourage and support your growth through e-learning and other study programs. You will have access to an array of benefits, such as:

  • Health and accident insurance
  • A healthy and tasty lunch and breakfast buffet
  • Access to fitness facilities
  • and much more.

We enjoy each other’s company, which is why we often get together outside of working hours. Our event committee MAKEEN Event arranges many different social events and sports activities for MAKEENers from all departments and functions.

How to apply
If this opportunity excites you, we’d love to hear from you! Please submit your application and CV via email to [email protected] with "Software Engineer" as the subject line.

The application deadline is 20 October 2024, but we will be reviewing candidates on an ongoing basis. The position may be filled before the deadline, so please send us your CV and application as soon as possible.

Further information
You place of work will be Alsvej 21, Randers, Denmark, with a possibility of working from home 1-2 days per week. Travel days may occur.
