Part-time lectures for the Business Department at the IT University of Copenhagen

The IT University of Copenhagen invites highly motivated individuals to apply for a part-time lecturer position starting in January 2025.

The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) seeks candidates for part-time lecturer positions to teach in the Global Business Informatics (GBI) BSc programme and in the Digital Innovation & Management MSc programme (DIM).

We invite applicants who want to contribute to the IT University's vision of creating and sharing knowledge that is profound and leads to ground-breaking information technology and services for the benefit of humanity.

The part-time lecturers are expected to contribute to teaching within at least one of the following areas:

  • IT Governance & Entreprise Architecture, including IT decision and control structures, enterprise architecture planning and management, data catalogs. IT Governance & Entreprise Architecture is a 7.5 ECTS course offered in the spring semester.
  • Digital Economics, including infrastructure, design, and value creation (DIM), a 7.5 ECTS point elective during the spring semester.

Other opportunities within other teaching areas may arise within Global Business Informatics and/or Digital Innovation Management more broadly.

The part-time lecturers are expected to contribute to teaching activities, including lectures, hands-on exercises, supervision, and examination in at least one of the above-mentioned areas.

The candidates must document:

  • Practical experience in at least one of the areas of the position
  • Knowledge about the academic literature within at least one of the areas of the position and the ability to connect academic literature to practice
  • A MSc-degree in a relevant field or an equivalent qualification

Ideally, the candidate is also able to document competencies in conducting teaching that is well-received by the students.

General information
The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 160 full-time Faculty members. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialization of IT.

About the Business IT Department
Business IT is organized in three interdisciplinary research groups Technologies in Practice, Information Systems and Digital Innovation and REFLACT. The groups share an interest in the socio-technical fabric of digitalization and digital transformation and comprise more than 30 assistant, associate and full professors. Research at Business IT provides basis for reflecting on how digital technologies may be used mindfully and beneficially in the private and public sector. Business IT offers a BSc in Global Business Informatics, a MSc in Digital Innovation & Management, and a professional part-time master programme in IT management. It hosts three research centers Center for Digital Welfare, Center for Climate IT and European Blockchain Center in addition to two academic labs ETHOS lab and BUILD lab.

Salary and terms of employment
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s currently applicable Circular of the Agreement for Part-time Lecturers at Universities and Other Establishments of Higher Education under the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.

Qualification Requirements
The following qualifications are required:

  • Candidates should have a MSc (or equivalent)

The applicant will be accessed according to the Appointment Order from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of 13 March 2012.

The IT University may use shortlisting in connection to the recruitment process. In case of shortlisting, the Chair of the hiring committee selects applicants for assessment in consultation with the hiring committee after the application deadline. All applicants are notified whether their application has been passed for assessment. The shortlisting of candidates for assessment is based on the criteria in the job posting.

The appointment will start on January 1st, 2025, or later. The contract will be a frame contract, allowing ITU and the hired candidate to agree on teaching roles and workload for upcoming semesters.
