We are seeking an experienced and motivated Database Analyst to manage and optimize our database systems. You will have hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including complex query optimization and reporting, as well as proficiency with Elasticsearch clusters. Knowledge of OLAP databases would be a strong plus, as we aim to extend our reporting capabilities.
We are looking into all cities in Romania, therefore if you are in Bucharest, you can work from home and come to the office when and if it is necessary or if you’d like to come. If you are based in any other city in Romania, you can work remote, from home - we have the online resources to guide you through the pre-boarding & onboarding processes and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Database Management: Maintain, monitor, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases to ensure maximum performance, security, and availability.
- Query Optimization: Review and re-write existing SQL queries to improve performance and reduce resource consumption.
- Reporting: Design and maintain database-driven reports, dashboards, and ad-hoc queries to support internal and external stakeholders.
- Elasticsearch Management: Manage, monitor, and optimize Elasticsearch clusters for search functionality, scalability, and performance.
- OLAP Systems (Optional but Preferred): Implement and maintain OLAP databases to support advanced data analysis and reporting.
- Backup & Recovery: Ensure data integrity, implement backup and recovery strategies, and conduct periodic database maintenance tasks.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to support data-related needs, including designing database structures for new applications.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for database environments, processes, and reporting standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Database Analyst, Database Administrator, or similar role.
- Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration, query optimization, and reporting services.
- Hands-on experience managing Elasticsearch clusters and familiarity with Elasticsearch query DSL.
- Familiarity with OLAP databases (e.g. Microsoft Analysis Services, Apache Kylin) is a strong advantage.
- Solid understanding of ETL processes and experience with reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, SSRS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with data warehousing concepts and best practices.
- Knowledge of cloud database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS).
- Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell or Bash for automation.
