We are looking for a Procurement and Contracts Director to take the lead and responsibility for all the Procurement-related initiatives on selected projects in the EU. You will be based in the UK and report to the Procurement Regional Head for Europe, with a dotted line to the Project CEO.

As a Procurement and Contracts Director it is essential that you thrive in dynamic environments and possess strong project procurement experience in large complex projects. Preferably you also possess offshore wind experience, but this is not a prerequisite. Your personality and diverse skill set enable you to be an inspiring leader that can create and maintain relations and communicate efficiently across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including pitching key recommendations to the project Board. You think strategically, but you are also ready to step in as an individual contributor and go deep in problem solving when required. Your organizational skills allow you to set up a high-performing procurement and contract management team, defining the right processes and collaborating effectively with all project functions.

You will support initiatives including:

  • Manage the procurement activities in the project including the procurement strategies across all packages, local supply chain strategies in support of bid development/offtake, procurement schedule to maintain project timelines
  • Manage a team of skilled procurement and contract managers and legal advisors
  • Develop and execute procurement and contract management strategies to support the project objectives incl. value optimization, achieving offtake, grid, permits, project finance etc.
  • Oversee the execution of commercial and contract management activities to secure safe, timely, high-quality, risk-balanced and cost-efficient delivery of the project
  • Develop and maintain key supplier relations
  • Collaborate with other projects and portfolio procurement to identify opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Ensure delivery of consistent, timely and high-quality presentations and recommendations towards each procurement decision-gate
  • Lead contract negotiations on large CAPEX contracts, and liaise with legal experts and other subject matter experts
  • Facilitate alignment and knowledge-sharing across packages and projects to ensure consistency

To succeed in this role, you have:

  • A degree in (commercial) law, business administration, engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Entrepreneurial approach and ability strive in a dynamic start-up environment
  • Experience and understanding of large projects, the ability to work in the interface between technical, commercial and legal aspects and a strong sense of value and risk drivers and understanding of how a project can be successfully financed and delivered
  • Strong leadership skills being able to manage a team of skilled procurement and contract managers and to contribute positively to the Management team of the project
  • Significant experience of supply chain development within large scale projects - experience within offshore wind or similar industries is preferred
  • Business acumen and strong negotiation skills
  • Good team player working with internal and external stakeholders in a multidisciplinary environment to deliver the results within budget
  • Ability to facilitate and deliver efficient steerco communication
  • In-depth knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices
  • Strategic thinker, with an eye for detail
  • Willingness to go the extra mile with a can-do attitude
