Unearthing Multispecies Intellectual History: Earthing Trajectories of Area Studies (UMIH-ETAS) is the Research Network within the Department of Global Studies at the Nobel Park Campus. We are recruiting a Part-time Student Assistant (‘studentermedhjælper’) to mainly provide administrative assistance with project manage relevant publications and future grants, communications with our international partners and internal members, and organising our workshops and other events.

We would like you to start at the beginning of November or as soon as possible thereafter, with an expected 5 hours of commitment each week for the coming year and a half or less.

You will be an active, interested and academically curious person, playing a vital part in sustaining and developing the research culture at the Department of Global Studies and beyond. Since the role will require close and regular engagement in UMIH-ETAS related activities, the position will particularly suit an individual with ambitions to stay in academia over the longer term.

Tasks will include:

  • Contributing to data management led by the project’s research assistant.
  • Budgeting and planning events.
  • Setting up and providing technical support (e.g. with ‘Zoom’) for meetings, as required.
  • Setting up and oversight of events and clearing up afterwards.
  • Ensuring smooths communications among members and partners.

Priority will be given to candidates who:

  • Are able to work independently and carefully, with an eye for detail and ensuring quality.
  • Are interested in research within the fields of the environmental humanities, intellectual history, and/or area studies, and are interested in finding out more about these research themes, through active engagement in the network.
  • Have a mid-level competency in written Japanese.
