The opportunity
The Data Platform team at Unity handles a broad spectrum of data systems and tools, covering every aspect of the data lifecycle — from ingestion and storage to processing, feature generation, and machine learning model deployment. Our work lays the groundwork for diverse applications such as simulations, game playing experience, and helping to improve game monetization, empowering other Unity teams to create exceptional tools and services for our users.

We're seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our team and contribute their expertise in building data processing products. In this role, you'll collaborate with engineers, product specialists, and data experts to research, prototype, and develop world-class applications, services, and pipelines, leveraging our over 60 billion daily data events.

What you'll be doing

• Design and develop our large-scale data processing framework for efficiency and reliability.
• Work with cross-regional teams to bring new features to our data processing framework.
• Set up data processing pipelines to efficiently ingest, transform, and store large scale data streams.
• Implement monitoring tools to ensure real-time visibility into data processing workflows.
• Automate testing and deployment processes for data pipeline updates.

What we're looking for

• Experience with building robust distributed systems.
• Experience with the latest data processing frameworks like Flink, Spark, Beam etc.
• Proficient in Java.
• An 'in-it-together' mindset that appreciates engineering as a collective effort.
• Outstanding social skills and ability to work multi-functionally with global teams across time zones.

You might also have

• Hands on experience with Protobuf, Iceberg, Kafka, Kubernetes.
• Experience with Terraform, ArgoCD, Github Actions and similar tools used for CI/CD.
