Student Life Coordinator

Are you interested in creating and leading cultural engagement experiences for undergraduate students from North American universities? Do you want to support and help these students navigating living in Sweden for a semester?
As the Student Life Coordinator, you will be responsible for our student-centered communication and services for our approximately 250 students. You will play a key role on the Care Team, guiding and empowering students who encounter challenges during their semester abroad and will run logistical and administrative processes such as our Arrival Day operations.
This role is for you if you love working in a dynamic environment where each day looks a little different, and are eager to support students in having a successful semester abroad. You will be part of our Housing and Student Life team, which currently has six members, as well as the broader DIS Stockholm team.
Job tasks and responsibilities
Student centered services and communication
- Run and develop our Student Hub – a vibrant, central space where students can meet, engage, and access a variety of DIS services
- This responsibility includes staff planning and trainings, developing the concept, running events, and ensuring that our students get the best possible service and inspiration from the space
- Be the lead partner for overall student communication on channels like newsletters, our own DIS app and in the Student Hub
- Liaise with different teams (e.g., Housing, Academics) to ensure coordinated communication and support
- Event and project coordination:
- Lead the planning and execution (together with Student Hub workers) of Hub-based events, aligning with student needs and the broader goals of student life
- Collaborate with other colleagues around events and community building projects
- Facilitate student-driven events and clubs, workshops, and other activities that promote a sense of community and foster student engagement
Student Care Team
- Be part of our student Care Team in which you will advise, support, and run follow-up meetings with our students (both in-person and remotely)
- Communicate with student case stakeholders (students, medical professionals, insurance providers, etc.)
- Handle student referrals to physical and mental health professionals
Logistic and administration
- Execute our semester Arrival Days (2) and co-own summer Arrival Days (5)
- Coordinate student phone plans and other student resources related to their stay in Stockholm
- Participate in the Emergency Phone Holder team
- Provide backup support for Housing and Student Life colleagues during vacations
- Work occasional weekends and evenings for arrivals and events
Professional competencies and skills
- Work experience in a relevant position (i.e. medical secretary, nurse, social worker, youth/education counselor, position in service/hospitality management, etc.)
- Experience and knowledge of mental health care, including awareness of when and how to refer students to appropriate support services
- Experience or education in event management and communication
- Prior experience working with young adults, particularly in educational, counseling, or customer service roles
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex schedules, coordinate staff, and oversee event logistics efficiently
- Adaptability to handle a variety of tasks, from individual student errands to project work and student planning
- In-depth knowledge of study abroad programs, particularly related to U.S. college students, combined with an understanding of intercultural communication
- Outgoing, collaborative, and a creative problem solver who enjoys working as part of a team in a dynamic, cross-cultural environment
- Strong customer service orientation, able to provide high-quality support to students in a positive and professional manner
- Enjoy working in an international, informal, and innovative environment, with a strong emphasis on cross-cultural understanding and teamwork
- Fluent in English, some knowledge of Swedish
- Possess a Swedish work permit or EU citizenship (this job does not come with a work permit)
Start Date
This is a full-time, time-limited position starting December 1, 2024 and ending November 30, 2025.
