We are looking for a person with a proactive mindset, and strong commercial and procurement skills to join our team in Japan in Tokyo. As a member of our global Procurement team, you will become an important part of the company and have key responsibilities across our Japanese projects
The position will be based in COP’s office in Tokyo, which was established in 2018. Our team in Tokyo is managing an extensive development portfolio of early-stage offshore wind development projects.
Primary job duties include the following:
- Tender for key work packages of offshore wind projects in Japan
- Drive preparation of tender documents and tender strategy.
- Manage tender process with relevant contractors
- Manage multidisciplinary processes
- Build relationships for and develop a local supply chain
- Responsible for all contractual-related matters for COP Japan (support of law firm and contract manager accessible)
- Support and facilitate key decisions with comprehensive commercial analysis
- Develop commercial and procurement in-house knowledge
- Prepare for key procurement-related decisions to the board of directors of the relevant project
To succeed in this role, you:
We expect that you have a bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: finance, economics, engineering, or law, and can demonstrate outstanding results from previous experience. The ideal candidate has around 10 years of relevant experience from a similar position in a large Japanese offshore developer, construction company, trading house, utility, EPC contractor, OEM for energy systems, Oil & Gas company, or consultancy and possesses the following skills:
- Top academic performer with an interest in large and complex infrastructure projects
- Experience in sales and/or procurement for infrastructure projects
- Contract tendering and contract management experience
- Good team player with an entrepreneurial mindset
- Dedicated and persistent with an eye for details
- Ability to run a tender process on its own
- Project management skills
- Negotiation and commercial skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present and communicate complex matters
- Experience in the offshore wind industry is preferred but not a strict requirement
- Native Japanese
- Good knowledge of English
