Are you intrigued by the idea of working in a team that brings together technology, data, and business strategy to transform supply chain business into more data-driven? You have experience in developing end-to-end machine learning solutions? And you enjoy working with a strong focus on our end-users’ needs?

Then this is your opportunity to grow your potential in DFDS A/S as we are seeking an experienced, passionate, and visionary Data Scientist/ ML Engineer to join our AI Centre of Excellence and help accelerate our work incubating scalable and maintainable AI initiatives across our diverse domains.

Be part of the movement - and play your part.
About the role
In this position, you will have the opportunity to lead initiatives with the goal to turn business problems into data science solutions that provide tangible value for DFDS, and our customers, based on prototyping and product development following the minimum viable product mindset. We work with an explorative and fail-fast mind-set.

As part of our Technology and Innovation division, in the AI CoE, we have full end-to-end ownership of initiatives from data acquisition & analysis, building predictive models, creating prototypes, and assisting with integrating solutions into existing products. In line with your experience, you have the possibility to greatly influence the way we work. We have worked on projects involving planning of hazardous cargo on board our ferries (discrete optimization), automated vehicle registration on our terminals (visual recognition), forecasting future demand for logistics (inference models); and our pipeline of future projects includes many exciting new initiatives. We are always looking for what could be our next project, driven by our own curiosity and imagination.

Our team consists of 8 experienced colleagues from different backgrounds, working collaboratively on different projects and regularly share findings and best practices. We keep a continuous focus on researching what new technologies we should focus on and define our ML-Ops standards together.

Your typical project will include:

  • Work and collaborate with other data scientists, data engineers, business analysts, and product owners in cross-functional teams, to understand their needs and ensure a seamless workflow for model development and deployment.
  • Translating complex solutions and sharing findings or recommendations in a clear, understandable way to both tech-savvy colleagues and non-experts.
  • Designing and implementing machine learning algorithms and statistical modelling (regression, forecasting, clustering, optimization, time series etc.). Our current setup is based on Python and frameworks such as fastapi, sklearn and streamlit.
  • Dockerize our software/models and deploy these on our Kubernetes clusters.
  • Lead projects from ideation all the way through a usable product that can create proven impact, following MVP mindset; learning and adapting for agile results.

About you;
We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity. Contrasting opinions, varied skills and strong characters bring out the best in us all. And we cannot wait for you to join.

With this in mind, we imagine that:

  • You hold an M.Sc. within a quantitative area like STEM or other relevant academic background.
  • You have proven professional experience (at least +1 year after graduation) in building and deploying ML applications with APIs, containerization using Docker and deployment with Kubernetes.
  • You have hands-on experience in designing and implementing in cloud (ideally AWS) deploying with CI/CD and working with modern build, test, and deployment tools.
  • You are curious about the newest developments in AI, including LLMs and generative AI.
  • You are willing to be a continuous learner and contribute to your development by finding the best solutions.
  • You are a curious and open-minded person with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate closely with business and technology functions at various levels.
  • You are currently based in Denmark, as a pre-requisite.
