Risk Specialist with an Analytical Mindset

Ørsted

Join us in this role where you’ll develop and maintain a deep understanding of renewable assets as well as complex non-linear payment structures from subsidies and long-term power sales agreements. You’ll play a key role together with your passionate colleagues to evaluate and challenge the business on their hedging strategies to ensure they mitigate risk and comply with mandates. Additionally, you’ll assess risks, analyse profit & loss (PnL), and monitor the exposures, mandates, and limits associated with the merchant risk factors our assets are exposed to.

Welcome to Group Merchant Risk
You’ll be part of Merchant Risk Europe in a team of twelve where you, together with your colleagues, will work with a large set of stakeholders across the organisation, interacting with many different nationalities and backgrounds. Together you’ll also analyse and report on risk exposures, PnL, value-at-risk (VaR), and stress scenarios. We’re a team who will help you grow your talent through our ambition to understand our stakeholder’s business, challenge their perspectives, and contribute to their understanding of market risks. As a team, we’re curious, bright, and commercially oriented and work professionally while keeping an informal tone with room for fun and laughter. Inspired by design thinking, we prioritise prototypes and knowledge sharing.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • identifying, understanding, and staying on top of financial market risks related to assets, subsidies, and various contracts
  • advising the Chief Risk Officer and senior management with insightful analysis on risks associated with our assets, subsidies, and contracts
  • analysing and communicating our company’s risk picture, ensuring compliance with mandates and policies
  • ensuring correct data foundation and precise, timely reporting of PnL, VaR, and stress numbers
  • fostering informal and trusting relationships with our broad base of stakeholders.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • either have experience or are curious about the risk management role, tools, hedging instruments, and risk models
  • find it motivating to create results through teamwork and developing good relationships with your colleagues and stakeholders
  • have an excellent analytical mindset and aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo
  • are used to working with and extracting insights from large amounts of data
  • have excellent IT skills, as we work with large data volumes and use tools such as SQL, VBA/Excel, Power BI and PowerPoint to a great extent
  • embrace working in a dynamic work environment, as Ørsted is currently undergoing significant changes.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
